Internal sutures on the outside of my incision

Hi everyone, I need help and advice please. On once of my incision sites, a small piece of the internal sutures used to strengthen the wound are protruding out of my wound. My surgery was on April 15 and my other scars are healing nicely but I'm freaking out a little about this. It is a direct route to my insides!!! I am keeping it clean but the doctor said it could take 6weeks for them to dissolve. Has this happened to anyone else?post-249890-14303598667214_thumb.jpg

I don't think it's a direct route to your insides. Just follow your doctor's instructions. If you notice any signs of infection call your doctor. Otherwise, try and relax.

Yes, this happened to me. I remember the area around the incision became a tad inflamed but in the end the wound healed up just as nicely as the other ones. The internal stuff poking out was similar to fishing line in my case. I cut one of them back with sterilized nail clippers and my surgeon cut the other one back. I tried on one attempt to pull it out and almost ripped my incision open! I tried again a few weeks later and it just slid right out. Whatever you do, don't pull if there's any resistance! It will eventually dissolve but you may need to remove the part exposed like I did. I actually went back through my posts and found where I posted about this. I'm a year out from surgery but it was under a posting called "something hard coming out" started by another member. You can look through my posts or search for it if want more details. I will cut/paste the pics of the stitches that eventually came out.post-203485-14303620950201_thumb.jpgpost-203485-1430362106536_thumb.jpg
