"Time of the month" cravings

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone.. Can you tell me if you get cravings when it gets close to your time of the month? If so did you prior to the surgery as well? I have ALWAYS gotten cravings close to my period. I want to eat everything but nothing is what I imagined. Then I have to do the sweet/salt thing...

SO I am only 4 months out losing very slow..well I think i'm losing very slow already went thru a 5 week stall.

I normally am not a sweets eater but every month close to that time i have to eat sweets. I have been fighting the feelin all week and broke down and had a cookie from Panera today and then my salt was about 10 lays plain potato chips!!! UGH...

Anyhow was just talking with one of my gf abt this who has been sleeved now for 1 yr. She states that with the sleeve we are not supposed to crave any sweets. Has ANYONE ever heard of this? I surely had not. I know they say the part of stomach that controls hunger is removed, but at my first Doc visit his nurse says that it doesn't work for everyone. I know it didn't work for me because I can sure feel when I am hungry. The cravings though are only associated with my period as they always have been.

Anyone hear this or have cravings too?

Also had surgery in December. I still get cravings when I am on my period. My period has been out of whack ever since having surgery though, so it seems like I have to deal with this every other day. NOT FUN! I don't think that craving sweets on your period has anything to do with ghrelin though. Maybe have some Atkins bars or other protein-type Snacks around that will help during those times?

I no longer have that "time of the month" lol but I gave into cravings a couple of times and then lost interest in those foods. I have found that the Atkins chocolates and Russell Stover Sugar Free Chocolate satisfies my chocolate craving. I have 2 every day at work

I don't crave anything specific, I just crave ANYTHING. I get very "snacky". I never noticed the snack attacks before surgery and I guess because I didn't try to refrain. Now that I am strict with my eating, I notice how badly I want to snack a few days before I start.

Prior to surgery i didn't have periods so this had been new to me but yes... I'm craving carbs, any carbs, in a big way. It really sucks. And I'm nauseous. Not fun. But i haven't given in to bad. I still count my calories. The dang Water gain and bloating is about to drive me crazy!

Prior to surgery (sleeve) I would crave liver cheese periodically. It may have something to do with Iron levels. I am still on liquids and not very far post surgery so I haven't experienced any cravings yet.

I am getting use to having my period again. I had stoped for years and now PMS eating is the worst! I freeze a Charleston chew and I quit beating myself up over eating that over new uncomfortable hormone changes

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
