4 days post op and burn in esophagus and tummy

I'm 4 days post op and am only on clear fluids and protein shakes. I had my dr follow up and learned I could swallow my Prilosec capsule, so when I got home I took my med. It immediately burned going down. After napping, I woke up with crazy burning in my esophagus and tummy that comes and goes. I took a gasX strip and it worked for about 30 minutes then it came back. Any suggestions? Ouchie!

Call the doctor. You may not be ready to swallow your pills just yet. However he may be able to recommend something to alleviate the discomfort you're presently feeling.

My doctor is the one that told me to swallow them. I was crushing them in previous days. I think I will go back to crushing for awhile longer.

I was given Prevacid tha dissolved under my tongue. Maybe yo can try that.

I understand that. What I'm saying is let him know what happened when you did swallow them and also see if there is something he might suggest you take to stop the burning you are currently feeling. Also he may want to switch you to a different PPI so the burning doesn't happen again.
