I used William Graber at St Josephs; he was great. Your date is getting pretty close, huh?

Cool, I'm seeing Dr. Baranov in Saratoga Springs. He's been awesome so far. Yes, my date is a little over a month away! Starting to get nervous and excited. Did you go thru your insurance? I have CDPHP and my surgeons scheduler made it sound like I would get approved super easy. I've already seen the Nutritionist, I got for Pre-op testing next week along with my weigh in, and then psych evil on may 13th....i dont think they've actually submitted everything to my insurance yet...

Yes, I went through my insurance. The whole process was super easy and his office pretty much handled everything; they just told me where to be and when. LOL They were very familiar with my insurance carrier's requirements and were so certain of approval that I had my surgery date well before they even requested the auth.

You are going to LOVE it on the other side.

Lol, that's funny it's the same way with this office. I was just told where to go and when and that's it! They've been handling everything. I love this surgeon and his whole office team. They've been great. Now it's just finishing up all of my appointments and then surgery. Any advice on what to bring to the hospital with me?

I didn't bring much to the hospital; some magazines, my Kindle and chapstick were all I really used. Oh, and a change of underwear because they let me shower on day 2 and it was glorious. I wore the hospital gown and super cool slipper socks.

Lol, OH yeah! Slipper socks! Haha. I had my gallbladder out at the end of last year and I didn't bring much with me then either so I think I'll plan the same for this surgery. Really hoping it's not as painful as gallbladder surgery tho.

I had my surgery feb. 17th of this year. About 9 weeks out at this point. I have lost 61lbs. I had my surgery in Rochester. I took some clothes like tank tops, yoga pants and clean underwear to the hospital. I had my gallbladder out about 7 years ago and I remember it being somewhat painful but unfortunately this will be more major. I didn't have too much pain other than the drain tube. Walk as much as possible. I walked 2 miles in the hospital. You will definitely want Chapstick, toothbrush and toothpaste and maybe some face cloths. It felt awesome to clean my face and clean up a little bit after surgery.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
