New to bariatric pal had bypass on 12/30/2014

Recommended Posts

My name is Corinne and I had gastric bypass surgery right before new years eve Dec. 30, 2014. My starting weight at the beginning of this process was 314. I am 5'7 and have always been a curvy girl but my "come to Jesus" moment was when I found myself exhausted just from playing with my niece for only 10 minutes. I have never been insecure about my weight but I knew that I wanted to be around for my family and have a family of my own someday. Add to that taking blood pressure meds, cholesterol meds, and dealing with joint pain after a knee injury I knew it was time to make a real change to save my own life! I am 32 years old and want to start fresh. I also am motivated by a desire to get healthy overall, not just until I reach my goal weight. At 3 and 1/2 months out I am down to 248 pounds now and would like to get to 150. I am having trouble getting the energy to workout due to troubles with getting enough calories in but I am a work in progress as we all are. I, for one, do not plan on going back to the old me! I am super excited to have found this forum! If anyone has myfitnesspal please add me my name on there is corerox. I am also on Fitbit but I haven't figured it out yet :) looking forward to continuing to explore this site! Good luck to all.

Congratulations on your weight loss and your positive attitude! As I am sure you discovered, it really does take a positive attitude to help us get through surgery.

Thank you and I couldn't agree more! I don't know what I would have done without the support of my family. This surgery is the most terrible and wonderful thing I've ever gone through all at the same time!! :) The pain (both literal and the learning kind), the mood swings, feelings of regret, small victories, just everything rolled into one amazing experience. This website app makes it a more interesting to be able to see other people's experiences.

I'm doing well now just having trouble getting enough protein/calories on most days. I think an important thing for me is continuing to keep Protein supplements (I use Unjury) around to add to my food to make my meals worthwhile. I get full so easily that I often find myself waiting too long in between meals. I don't feel hunger per se, I just sometimes feel a little tired or I notice that it has been a few hours so I grab some Greek yogurt or something. How about you guys? What stages are you in?

I'm 4 months post op. Had surgery on Dec 18th. I'm down 94 lbs. Should be at 100 in about 3 weeks. Then want to lose another 100 over the next year. I drink Premier Protein shakes & eat a lot of Lean Cuisines. I'm lucky if I get 1000 calories in a day. Feel better than I ever have. Walking & working out at the gym daily. People are beginning to notice the new me. I was diabetic & I'm totally off my insulin. Off my cholesterol meds. I like the new me & don't want to go back

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
