HI, I just had surgery (gastric sleeve) 2 days ago. Everyone I talked to before hand said they did so good and felt good enough to go to work the third or fourth day. Let's just say I'm very disappointed. The only real pain I've had is from the trapped gas but I have had some nausea and I'm really afraid I won't be able to get all the fluids in. I tried a little chicken broth today and it did not settle well. If I even think of food, chicken broth or anything it turns my stomach. Please tell me this will soon pass! I'm really wondering what I have done to myself.

It absolutely will pass. You just had major surgery on your stomach, and your hunger hormone is not present. I promise as the days go on, you will feel better and better. When you are not hungry, it makes it very hard to feel good when eating.

The important thing is that you stay hydrated. Keep sipping those liquids and just do the best you can. I remember the first couple of weeks following my surgery. I was so worked up about not begin able to even get close to 64oz. of fluids that it was making me nauseous. I remember at my one week check in, I mentioned that I was really having a difficult time getting there and the bariatric nurse who had also had bypass at one time said you just have to do the best you can.

If you are constantly sipping (which you need to do at this point), you will soon get to your goals. The closer you get, the better you will feel.

I promise it will pass, just keep your eye on the prize.

The thing about this is that you are swollen. As you heal from surgery, everything will become easier. I know you have no way of knowing this now, but it really does get easier. Meanwhile, drink as much Water as possible and use Protein Shakes to get your Protein. Take care.

You just had major surgery on your stomach. Where all food, medicines, and liquids pass through. Keep telling yourself this. Your insides are inflamed. I'm having the same issues. Yesterday and today I had no appetite, couldn't muster up the will to take down my liquids. I just had to keep telling myself that I signed on for this change and this yucky recovery period is necessary for me to reap the benefits of it. If your dr gave you anti-nausea or pain meds, take them. If they didn't and your nausea doesn't improve, call them.

I could not even imagine going to work 4 days after my surgery. I couldn't even stand up straight for almost 3 weeks after surgery.

If you still have problems with nausea, CALL YOUR SURGEON!!!! This is what they are their for.

They can help with this. Just keep sipping!

Just remember, is too shall pass.

Just keep letting te gas flow freely, lol

It makes it better.

Good luck!!!!

I had surgery 04/22 and I'm still waking up in pain from the left side incisions on my RnY that were used for the big instruments and was the main port site. They told me it would probably be more sore but it's caused the most of my pain. I am still having to take liquid hydrocodone to deal with the pain. I don't know how much fluids I'm getting. Water feels like it makes me nauseated. They had to call in a script for zofron because I've been nauseas and dry-heaving all weekend. It will get better. i believe It will get better and feel better but yes this is major surgery and they cut and snip and moved and jostled around inside your body cavity. I can't stand up straight either and I'm like Kimberly, there is no way I could have just gone to work 5 days after surgery. I gained weight from the swelling and retaining Water and have yet to lose that weight. I also have not released much gas either. Keep up the faith! It will be great ^^

I'm 2 weeks weeks after surgery. Still have some pain...it does come an go. I don't feel right yet. I just feel gross. I hate eating anything nothing sounds good. Even shakes I have to choke down. I hope it passes soon I'm real tried of it. Just a gross feeling with the gurgling and I don't think that's helping my problem but I also feel like I have weight in my stomach and that's bugging me too.

I had surgery Thursday 4/23 around 7 in the evening. I'm a sleeve to mini bypass revision. I had pretty uncomfortable gas pain and I had a drain that was miserable till they took it out. I'm on Clear Liquids and they are going down fine. If not for a dull headache I can't get rid of I would feel great ! I have low energy but I'm prob only getting 300 calories a day right now. I'm going back to work tomorrow.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
