Just wanted to check back in. I had my surgery on 3/31. Things are going pretty good. I am able to move around pretty well. Riding in the car is a little painful as I still feel every bump in the road. But it is getting better. I took off my nausea patch yesterday and I am happy to say that I haven't been nauseous at all. I was even able to go get a manicure and pedicure yesterday!

Reading all of the posts, I realized that my diet is a lot different from most people. I am on Clear Liquids for this whole week. I can drink Water pretty easily. I've had sugar free popsicles and fudgsicles. Yesterday I tried to eat sf Jello but only made it through about 1/2 a container before I was full. I am not supposed to start Protein supplement drinks and smoothies (no added fruit) until Day 7. I don't start on mushy foods until week 3 (days 15-21). My head tells me I need to eat but my body is not hungry. I am looking forward to being to enjoy meals with my husband. Right now, he is trying not to eat in front of me. Even though I tell him it is ok, he is worried that it will be hard for me. I told him that next week I would let him take me out to a Chinese place that we like. I figure I can have the egg drop Soup.

I am trying to keep positive about my weight loss. I have lost 13 pounds and I know that is a good number for 5 days after surgery. But I see some of you have lost 20+ pounds. When my mom had the surgery last year, she lost 20 pounds in the first week. I'm moving and not eating anything I am not supposed to. I know everyone is different. Maybe when I start with the Protein, more weight will fall off. I guess I am just being impatient...

@@Butterfly85 I swear our situation mirrors each others so much, lol!! I too have only lost 7 lbs, and Tuesday will be 1 week from surgery. I feel the same as you, patience, it's not a race or anything our body will shed it at its own pace. The main thing is, it's shedding, lol! I too have the weird sound as when I sip and have short bursts of pain as I sip, I wish I knew how long something like that is supposed to last. I'm sure it will ease up with time since each day seems to be better than the last. I guess it just takes time and patience {{sigh}} lol! Hope all goes well for you too and you are having a happy Easter!

Happy Easter too you! It's a lot of head hunger. But I just keep telling myself I'm stronger than it. And being able to eat squishy food helps. I just need to drink more. It feels like that's all I'm doing. Don't know how I'm going to get it all in when I get back to work.

I had my surgery on 3/17, and it took me 5-7 days before all the gas was gone. I walked a lot and it finally subsided. I can now also sleep on my sides again. So give it time. As of today, I am at 215.4, I am so excited since I have not been at this weight in 5 years. I have lost a total of 20 lbs, thanks for all the support on this site.

I'm Amie.

Sleeved 3/31/15

I get so much hope and joy seeing there are others like me on the same timeline. Anyone can email me at foreverloved27@gmail.com

For those with BM problems. Miralax

I finally went today. I did the miralax yesterday and this morning. It's gentle and patient with my scared body and mind. (Beyond terrified to push)

We got this. Come hell or high Water.

Oh ps I was told about papaya enzymes and digestive enzymes. God forbid we go crazy and take too much of food or skip ahead of our plan... I heard it helps with the death like feeling that will take over. Was told they are at Walmart. As soon as I get a ride I'm grabbing some.

Sleeved 3/31. Im back at work today. Standing up and sitting down is a lil sore but nothing awful. I'm a lil tired but not exhausted. No one at work knows I had it done except for 2 co-workers. Did anyone else go back to work yet?

I was going to go back tomorrow but am going to work from home instead. I have an hour commute and I'm worried about that for some reason. My energy and pain is fine I've had some stomach/bathroom issues today and that scares me. I'm just nervous to go back!!!

I was sleeved on 3/31.

Just the thought of making a Protein shake makes me cringe. I am sooo sick of them!

Other than that, I am feeling better every day. Just mentally a little blah! It's been rainy and supposed to stay that way all week :(

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
