I have been in recovery for I want to say 5 hours, and besides a dry mouth and some Soreness I am doing awesome! my happy button may be doing the trick lol I can walk and move just fine, mouth feels like the Desert lol but they have these sponge tipped sticks that I can stick in Water and wet my mouth....one thing I'm hating is constant dozing off, I know it will wear off but it makes conversation very irritating and hard....anyway sorry it took so long just wanted to give an update! :) sorry for misspelling, it's the anesthesia I promise haha

Congrats! I'm glad to hear you are doing so well! Are you going home today or tomorrow?

It's almost midnight here in Texas which means no Water, no nothing! "My bags are packed, I'm ready to goo..."lol ugh, I won't lie you guys, I'm terrified! I hugged my two girls a little tighter tonight, risk of complications are low, but they are there and I'm trying to pep talk myself with all the usual things people say when they don't want u to stress...I don't care about the pain or not being able to inhale food anymore, I just want to come out on the other side and live my life the way I was meant to!

Hope you guys are having a great night! :) ❤️

How did it go?

I got revised from band to sleeve this morning and feeling great (all things considered lol). Not about to run any races quite yet ;)

That's great thundergrrl!!!!! And haha same here! I was expecting a lot of pain just preparing myself for what some were saying here and I guess I was a lucky one...just have some soreness but the hydromorphone (morphine?) is taking care of that ...I have a high tolerance for pain though too so that could be it. My mouth is dry still and sleep is always difficult in a hospital, but I'm also an extremely light sleeper. They just came in and took bloodwork, I'm guessing the doctor will be seeing me around 8am

Hope everyone is doing good! Check in here if u can, I'd like to know yall made through fine :)

One thing I wanted to mention is how itchy I feel and everywhere!....I have no allergies to anything, they are giving me benedryl for it which helps but it doesn't take the itchiness away completely....just wanted to share :)

So yesterday was fairly interesting :). I think mentally the worst part was the few minutes in the operating room still waiting to be knocked out and wondering if I took the easy road and that I should bail :) But after the year long process it had to be done and I know that it had to be.

Waking up in the recovery room was rough. It was painful and disorienting. But by the middle of the day, I was up going to the potty. Wow all that IV runs right through me.

I spent most of the day in the recovery section bc they didn't have a bed for me. But I will say I appreciated the nearly one on one nurse attention.

By 9pm I got a room... But of course couldn't sleep at all with the constant beeping, leg pump things and interruptions. Ohh, and boy, am I thirsty. I got ice chips yesterday evening, but can only suck and melt them down slowly.

Today they are running the leak test ... And maybe going home.

Ohh but one of the best part of yesterday was waking my four year old at 5 in the morning so that my husband and him could drop me off. He woke up and told me to take a picture of him so that I wouldn't be lonely in the hospital. Worst morning hair picture but it makes me cry :)post-197207-14265887792441_thumb.jpg

Just had my revision from band to sleeve yesterday and I'm feeling great. So much less pain than when I had the band put in 5 years ago.

Wishing a quick and easy recovery to all of you 3/16 folks!!

I hope you are feeling better this morning! I am so grateful that the hospital I'm in (in Mexico) does not do all the beeping machines and leg pumping stuff. I have been making sure to walk a lot on my own but it's an incredibly different experience here than in US hospitals, and makes you really appreciate getting to be left alone and rest.

Good morning @@AquariusDiva! So glad to see you are doing good...I had the same whole "doubt myself at the last minute, let's bust out of here" feelings too! Haha I even told my husband that I wanted to go home...so don't feel alone! We had so many emotions and fears going through us that it probably made it seem better to just go back to old ways, but we've done that way too many times, we deserve results, something to show for our hard work!

Your little boy is adorable, all I keep thinking about is holding my girls, the prayer I said right before going in was that if I could make it through this and hold my girls that I would take care of everything else❤️

I also had to wait in the recovery room for some time before going to my own room, I felt horrible for some people waking up yelling out, one guy they didn't take the tube out of his throat prior to making him conscious...I've never been a nurse so I won't judge, but it was hard to hear him yell..

Any who I'm starving so I'm going to take a walk to keep my mind off of food!

Glad everyone made it through! I'm still sucking on ice chips waiting on my upper GI. I am sooo thirsty! My pain this time is nothing compared to the lap band surgery

It's actually unbelievable to me! I haven't had the left shoulder pain, gas pain, or anything. I've dry heaved a few times due to nausea but it goes away if I just lay down again and ask for more meds ;)

I am appalled at how much worse I felt after the band.

I haven't gotten ice chips yet, but today...

My surgeon does 2 leak tests while you're still in the OR so I actually don't have to that before they discharge me. Super happy on that because I've done too many of them with my band when it was messing up and I will puke if I have to drink that stuff again.

That's still considered outpatient right? Since your surgery was later in the day?

My surgery is in exactly a week. I'd like to keep up with you and your progress since we our surgeries are so close!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
