Growling and Gas

Recommended Posts

Has anyone experienced this...I find that when my tummy starts growling (time to feed the beast) right on the heels of that comes a bout of gas (both ends). It seems to go hand in hand. Now I gotta tell you...this stomach growling thing is totally NEW for me...I have never experienced this before (I always ate when my HEAD said to and NEVER got to the point that my tummy NEEDED food), so I kindof look on this a a whole new bodily function to get used to and I just marvel at it (people give me a weird look when I stop and go "Hark! My stomach is talking to me!" with a rapt look on my face...). Anyway, am I alone in this....?

Nope, not alone! My growling has caused much laughter at work...but I just grab something to drink and try to tame it! I haven't had as much gas as in the beginning--maybe I am just trying to control it while I am at work. Are you on pureed or mushies yet?

I'm on "soft diet"...guess that is mushies. I'm 14 days post op and feeling great, and down 13.5 pounds from surgery date. My growling isn't very noisy externally, but in ME it feels like an 8 point earthquake! If I put food in it stops immediately.

I know, the growling kinda echoes throughout the body!

Ah, mushies...I can only dream about them! I have 5 more days of liquids until I can even have pureed. Strange to think that I am actually excited to eat cottage cheese--I imagine it tasting SO good! My doc requires 3 weeks liquids only after surgery--I was banded the day before you!

Great job on the weight loss!! It's a great feeling, huh?

3 weeks of liquids? OMG I would have never made it, prolly why my weight loss is so slow, shoulda stayed on liquids longer

Yup, three LONG weeks...never would have believed that I could've done something like that! But, I am determined! I have "cheated"--when I had the runs last week I slowly ate two pieces of American cheese for the binding effect (but the chewing was very therapuetic too!) I am SO sick of Protein shakes!

Lucygirl~I noticed you got filled & then unfilled, what was the reason for that? Hope everything is OK!

OMG! not sure why I needed to be unfilled, only know that they put 3cc's in a band that holds 10 cc for my first fill. I was fine when I left the Dr's office, then I started getting pain in my back, at first I thought it was just mild gas pains, then it got worse, then really bad, a 10 on a scale from 1-10. I called then clinic, they had me come back right away, I thought I was gonna die, almost had to call 911. They took all of the fill out and I had relief right away, they put back in 1cc and I have been fine since, not sure what went wrong, dont think they know either, could have been the barium, they did the fill under fruoscopy, they said wait two week and if I dont feel any restiction they will do another small fill in 2 weeks.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
