On my pre op diet, surgery is Friday.

I've stick to my diet, I was only asked to do 10 says, but have made sure I've had no carbs, sugar etc. I've stuck to about 800 calories a day, yesterday was much less... About 600. And today I gained 1lb! That means I've lost 5lbs. I am so tired and cold. And now my period has come - I don't usually have periods on my pill. The last time was 8 months ago. Why now?? Will they still do my sleeve Friday? I'm miserable. :-(

I'm so sorry you are miserable. And periods suck! If I were you, I would stay away from the scale. Bodies do what they want, on their own schedules, and we can't really control them -- at least not in the short term. I am sure the pound you gained was Water and tissue due to your period. There is no way you actually gained a pound of fat eating the way you are. That weight will come off, I promise, but I can't tell you when! So the scale is going to drive you nuts. The pre-op diet, generally speaking, is to help shrink your liver so that your surgery will be safe. It isn't to lose weight, so don't measure how "well" you are doing by the scale. How well you are doing will be assessed by your surgeon when he or she opens you up! And as long as you stay on track, I can't imagine your surgery will be canceled. Doctors understand that sometimes bodies do weird things -- especially in conjunction with hormonal changes and periods. Hang in there :)

Thanks bufflehead, I know you're right. I'll try and keep positive. I'm determined to stay strong and make it to Friday, but all I wanna do today is curl up in bed and not get out.

Thanks for your encouragement :-)

Stay positive- you will lose weight after your surgery. I stuck to my preop liquid diet and never cheated. I even did two weeks instead of the recommended one because I was worried about my liver not shrinking enough. I only lost about three pounds during that time. I was nervous that I wouldn't lose after the surgery. I am seven months out and have lost 112 pounds and only 19 away from goal.

So hang in there and Friday will be here soon and then you will begin to see some huge results. Good luck to you.

@@mandyboo, I'm sorry you are so miserable right now, but on the bright side, having your period now means that you won't be starting your period right after surgery. That would have just added to your discomfort. Maybe the fates are on your side after all.

Friday will be here before you know it. Just keep looking forward to your new, healthier body.

Aw, hang in there. It is rough, and I'd love to tell you it gets easier post-op, but it really doesn't. At least not right away. This is going to be a rough couple of weeks, but you have a whole lifetime ahead of you where you will be happier and healthier thanks to your sleeve. Stay positive and focus on the future. You can endure a little misery now for a lifetime of benefits ahead. Know you can come here to vent any time you need. We've all been there!

Don't worry and don't be hard on yourself. I'll just tell you that your body is going to do all kinds of weird things over the next few months. Weird feelings, weird noises, you'll be sad then happy then sad, you won't know if you're hungry or nauseated, you'll lose a lot of weight then hit screeching plateaus, you'll kick yourself then be so glad you did this. It's a crazy roller coaster. So cut yourself some slack and just try to get a lot rest and try not to stress. You are going through major physical changes. And it's going to turn out great.

I lost 3 pounds on my preop. Doc still sleeved me, and my liver was perfect. Don't be discouraged.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
