Four days until surgery and I'm a bundle of nerves!

When I started this journey six months ago it seemed so far away. But now I'm 4 days from my surgery and I'm super excited and a bundle of nerves all at the same time. Yesterday I filled out all my paperwork at the hospital to pre register and found out that I will be having a hernia repair during my bypass. Has anyone had this done? I think this is one of the reasons I'm so nervous. My starting weight was 291lbs and my last visit with the doctor I was 270lbs. My husband and I have already begun to talk about me getting a mommy makeover after I lose the weight. My goal is to get down to 140-150lbs. I'm 5'5 and I just want to get down to a healthy BMI! Any advice or encouragement would be great.

You are going to be so excited when you get through this procedure and start seeing the results! Congratulations!

I was told I had a hernia and they were going to repair it while performing surgery but when they got in there, no hernia.i guess my general doctor had no idea what she was talking about, as usual.

Good luck on your surgery!

I am next week too. Repair of hiatel hernias are quite common and from what I have read just result in a bit more pain and healing time..but nothing major. I have one I can actually feel at times. My surgeon said if it wasn't big he wouldn't mess with it.

Surgery is the best decision I've ever made for my physical and emotional health! Keep us posted on how you are doing!

Best of luck!

Carol

I have a hernia too....my surgeon is going to repair it but also said lots to times in overweight people something might appear as a hernia but once they get in there it's really not. She said it's normal procedure to check for hernia and repair if found on each surgery. My surgery is March 18th so we will see!

Good luck with yours!!!
