  1. Hi eveyone, Do you have an opinion about the BariMelts Vitamins? I see on their website they have a great offer: one of each BariMelts® formulation – Multivitamin, Calcium (Citrate), B-12 Plus, Iron + Vitamin C all for $39.99. That's about what I paid from another bariatric site just for the mulitvitamins. Thanks, Carol

I'm so excited! I hit my surgeon's goal this morning (150)!! I'm seven pounds from my goal and a loss of 100 pounds since surgery in September. SO HAPPY!! Carol

    Depression and regret

I wish I could show you the future. I had surgery in September, and I promise, you will feel normal again. Follow your team's plan to the letter is the key to success. Your mind and body will catch up with each other. I wish you the very best of luck! Carol
  4. I can only answer for me, but YES, bypass was totally worth it! Best of luck, Carol
  5. YES, YES and YES! I hate my body too but I love my life. I guess it's an even trade. I hope you find peace, acceptance and HAPPINESS! Carol
  6. Eight years ago because that's when my sister had bypass and I saw how successful and happy she was with her decision. I wanted to do it then but my insurance refused to pay and I couldn't afford it on my own. The company I work for changed our insurance in May to one that supported WLS and I had the surgery September 2.

    Slower than expected. Normal?

PLEASE talk to your NUT. He/she knows what is best for you since we are all so different. Normal and slow are such subjective terms. I'm not losing a pound a week yet I am thrilled with my results. If 1/4 a cup is all you can eat, then try adding a couple of protien shakes a day to get your calorie intake up some. Your NUT or surgeon should be telling all this. Be patient. Take this time to also learn about your body and healthy eating while you are losing. That is so important. Best of luck! Carol
  9. Absolutely!! I told my surgeon when we were talking about weight goals that if I ended up at 180 with no diabetes and no worsening neuropathy, I would be happy, and I meant it! If I don't lose another pound at this point since my diabetes is completely under control, I'd be fine with that.
  10. Just keep following your plan! I was a little lighter than many when I had surgery too so it's slow for me, but before you know it, you will be close to goal! Don't compare yourself to others because there are a ton of variables that affect everyone's weight and weight loss. When you follow your plan, and let time pass, you will lose. Best of luck to you! Carol
  11. Surgery is the best decision I've ever made for my physical and emotional health! Keep us posted on how you are doing! Best of luck! Carol

    Constipation

Two tablespoons of mineral oil every night before I go to bed honestly saved my life! I had never experienced constipation before I had surgery, and when it hit, it was horrible. I did everything I knew to do for months, and nothing worked, including Colace. My sister told me to try mineral oil because her 9 year old grandson has chronic constipation and was told by is gastroenterologist to take it. I've been taking it for a couple of months now and have not experienced constipation since, and it's super cheap! It's without a doubt the best tip I've gotten since surgery! Best of luck to you. Coffee

I have a large cup of decaf every day with a scoop of Genepro protein, a couple of teaspoons of powdered creamer, and an ounce of Jordan's Skinny Syrups in Caramel. LOVE it!
  14. This was sent to me by the bariatric nurse manager at our local hospital. More proof that we made the right decision for our health. Best of luck! Carol http://consumer.healthday.com/diabetes-information-10/misc-diabetes-news-181/weight-loss-surgery-extends-lives-study-finds-695232.html
  15. I've lost 75 pounds as of this morning!!!
  16. My insurance company changed May 1 to one that supported WLS. I got in to see my primary a week later and had completed my psych and NUT visits by the end of August and surgery was September 2nd. Had they given me the option to have surgery in 30 days or less, I would have jumped on it! I have not had one regret. I would have done this years ago had I had insurance that supported it. Best of luck to you! Carol

    I just wanted to shout...

Thanks everyone! I had bypass in September.
  18. Just some constipation. It was pretty easy, otherwise.

    Progress taking place

    Congratulations!!
  20. My hospital stay was overnight and I was back to work in 3 weeks. My job is 90% desk though. Best of luck on your surgery! Best decision ever! Carol
  21. Two tablespoons of mineral oil every night before bed has been a life-saver for me! My sister recommended me trying it after hearing me complain. Mineral oil is prescribed for her 9 year old grandson who has severe constipation issues and it has been working for him. It works great and is very cheap. Best of luck, Carol

    ? About Genepro unflavored

I've not tried it in Water but I've mixed it with just about everything else (including hot decaf coffee) and it's virtually undetectable. I had surgery in September and since October I have used no other Protein supplement but GENEPRO. My surgeon approved it and my NUT researched it because I was concerned about comments I had read here, and she said the peptide was completely appropriate. It's the only whey product I can ingest without gagging from either the smell, taste, or both. I got the numbers back from my blood tests on the 20th and every number was within normal range, including protein. My surgeon was very happy with my numbers. Let us know how it worked in water and Benefiber. Best of luck, Carol
  23. I chose gastric bypass because of the research available on how well it works to reduce the symptoms of Type II Diabetes. Since diabetes was my main concern, both my primary and my surgeon recommended bypass as well. I also chose gastric bypass because of the great results (weight loss and maintenance) I have seen from my sister's surgery.
