summer heat after reaching goal

Recommended Posts

I can Water , pull weeds , go visit with neighbors outside and not break a sweat.

I even sit outside in the shade (of course) and read.

Before I would have to shower if I wanted to go anywhere else. It was like a workout.

I even made a comment to my hubby about something I noticed and asked is that normal? He said well honey you didn't spend much time outside before.

I missed out but not anymore.

Edie, we had our surgeries in the same month(7/5/06) and we are both 48, so I have kept up with your weight loss. I have lost 85 ls. and sort of jst been sitting there the last few weeks, but I also wear a size 12, down from a 24. I have been experiencing the exact same thing you are discussing. I seem to be always cold indoors, and can't even seem to work up a god sweat doing yardwork and stuff. ISN"T IT ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL TO FEEL THIS WAY!!!!!!!!! Hasn't this really been an exciting , scary, challenging, and miraculous year. Keep up the great work, and enjoy the new life you have created for yourself. MIZBOO

The theory behind feeling cold, or not as hot as before we lost weight is this.

Fat is a fantastic insulator. It keeps us warm. So during the hotter parts of the year, we had not only the natural heat of the summer to deal with, but all this extra padding and insulation. When we lost the weight, we are like all the other normal sized folk in the world. But, we are used to being over heated by our fat, so we feel cold compared to how we felt before. We are not cold so much as normal.

Clear as mud? LMAO

Hi Edie, It was wonderful that you can now enjoy being outside without all the side effects of being obese. We can all now sit on that love seat/rockingchair on the patio in summer without breaking it too.:biggrin1:

I always thought something was wrong with me...I'm usually always hot. I am really looking forward to getting banded, losing weight, and not SWEATING for no good reason!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
