Any one from Texas?

Recommended Posts

I'm a newbie from the San Antonio area! Banded on 2/17!

Lost 18 since preop diet 10 of which has been post op. But have been stuck at that since the first week post op. Not rushing or worrying about that. I'm focusing on changing mindset about food first!! Hoping to connect with others through this journey!!

I am almost at day 4 post op. When will I feel normal again and stop walking like hunchback of Notre dame ?

As far as feeling normal again it took me just a bit over a month to feel normal. And I never walked hunched over after my surgery so I'm not sure about that one.

I concur. It's been 4 weeks from my surgery today. I just went back to work. It really took 2.4-3 weeks before I felt semi-normal. I was pretty shocked and disappointed initially bc it seems that many people have an easy recovery. I normally bounce back quickly but this was not the case with the sleeve. I never regret doing it, and I was very prepared for what could happen, I just always thought what could happen would not happen to me. Again, I had no major leaks but I did pull an internal stitch (worst pain I've ever had), had hibernation syndrome, and hit the annoying "3 week stall" in the middle of week 2 for a out 10 days.

Stay positive. It will get so much better and easier. Just listen to what your body needs because your body will speak to you in a language only you can understand. Hope all is well!

I'm late to the party. I'm from Texarkana but drove to Dallas and had my band removed and sleeve performed by Dr. Frenzel 6/12/15. I'm really sore where the port was but its getting better and I don't have that burning sensation when getting up now. liquids at 1st were really hard for me to get in, I'm prone to dehydration and have ended up in the hospital more than once because of it so I'm determined to stay hydrated, not to mention how awful it makes you feel. I have sharp pains off and on in between my breast, I'm assuming that's just everything messed with getting readjusted. My incisions are starting to itch but I'm dreading these staples being pulled out.

I live in a very small town of Graham Tx. Just south West of Fort Worth. I had surgery on June 5 2015 with Dr Dirk Rodriguez in Dallas at pine Creek Medical. Fabulous experience. I have lost 22 pounds in the first month. I am pretty satisfied with the results. Considering I had a 17 day stall as soon as I could eat regular food again.

I live in Llano. Rougnly 1/3 the size of Graham. I am having surgery in San Antonio with Dr Reiss. It's about a 2 hr drive for me, as there is nothing where I live. There is another lady in town that had hers done in Temple this Monday. I am counting down the days.

Sad Hatter I went to college with a girl who lived in Llano at one point. Nice girl. I hope you are excited about surgery. First few weeks are tough but it's so worth it. All the luck in the world to you!!

Dr Smith was my surgeon! I got the sleeve on 3/25. You're in good hands!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
