1 month post op - no weight lost in the last 10 days

Recommended Posts

I'm getting really disheartened. I haven't lost any weight in the past 10 days despite the incredibly limited diet.

Has this happened to anyone? I'm starting to worry that something's wrong or that this surgery isn't going to work for me.

I'd appreciate hearing anyone's experiences or advice :)

It is normal to stall, in fact I think they call it the 3 week stall although it happens to some people earlier and later than 3 weeks. It is your body realizing that you are making big changes and it is not quite sure if it should let go of fat stores in your body. The most important thing you can do is stay the course on the plan. Drink 64 oz. of Water per day, get your Protein in, take your Vitamins and keep on exercising.

It will all of a sudden let go and you will start losing again.

I know it is frustrating, I had a stall that lasted 4 weeks and a couple more that lasted a week. All of a sudden weight will drop off.

Keep in mind it never comes off as quickly as that first month. Expect a couple of pounds a week if you are following the plan. Some people lose faster than that and it all depends on where you are. Heavier people usually lose more faster in the beginning. Everyone is different and you should not compare yourself to others. Also, if that scale is making you crazy, stay off of it. I actually weigh daily but I do not let the scale make me nuts. I use my clothing to gauge my weight loss. If my clothing is fitting loser, then I know I am losing inches.

Good luck and stay positive!

How much Protein are you getting? When I increase my protein, I lose. Also make sure you're getting in your Water. I know how hard this is during this early time though, I'm still not getting in as much water and protein as I'm supposed to be getting every day.

I haven't lost anything for a week now, but I've also had an INSANE week at work, and I know I'm low on water and protein.

Take your measurements. Maybe you've lost inches!! Could be Constipation related as well

I stalled 10 days after my surgery and it lasted for 17 days. It was very frustrating but I knew it had to end sometime and it did 2 days ago. Just be patient and follow your program. (Easier said than done, I know.)

How many calories do you eat a day when you up your protein? Do you only increase your protein but not carbs/fats as well? Because I worry so much about calories over all.

I only concentrate on the Protein increase. The most calories I've had in a day is about 775. I physically cannot eat more than that.

h I hear ya! I have only lost 16 pounds since my surgery on December 18th. I am very frustrated. I am working on increasing my Water and Protein to see if this kickstarts things. I had an unrealistic expectation of losing 30 pounds in one week. LOL

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
