Welcome, Bob,

Wow! You're doing fantastic. I have inspired one co-worker so far and it will be fun to share his journey when he finally gets banded. I have lost just over 30 pounds so it is just now starting to be noticable.

It seems like everyday someone comes up to me and mentions my weight loss. I freely talk about being banded so maybe I'll encourage a few others.

Congratulations and good luck.

Hi Bob! I up the road from ya in KY. I had my surgery March 29, 2007. Dr. Tanner did my surgery at Norton Hospital in Louisville. To date I have lost 21 lbs and seem to have plateau. I'm sure that will change. I had my first fill on the 11th this month. I go back on the 22nd of June. I had mild to moderate pain and did not even fill my pain prescription. A few Tylenol and I was good to go. I'm glad I found this site, today! Best of luck and continued success!!

Congratulations Bob! You're very close to goal, and that must feel great! Absolutely, we're all here to learn from and share with each other. I like to think we're on the same journey and I still find it helpful to know others are going thru the same issues.

I'm sure with your 75 lb transformation, others want to be like you! It's awesome that you've inspired them to consider the band. Best of luck to them on a healthier, happier life!

Frank, I hope your wife realizes she's got a great support system in YOU! I'm impressed that you've taken the initiative and are learning about the process.

Sharon, it's nice to have people notice your success! I'm also very pleased when they comment on how I've been able to maintain, it would not be possible for me without the band. I wish you continued success :drum:

Jen, do you feel the same level of restriction now as you did immediately following your fill? Does your appetitie seem to have increased a large amt? If it concerns you, you might try to see if they have a

fill appt sooner than 6/22. I wonder if the same amount will be in there? If they don't draw out as much saline as they put in on 5/11, make sure to ask if they can fill you with Omnipaque.

All the best to everyone,

Karla

Karla, I really did not feel "filled". I had no restrictive feeling. In the beginning I did the liquids because I was scared not to. I was pretty relaxed at home and did not feel hungry. After the "fill" on May 11th, I left the Dr. office and drove back home and resumed the same activities as before. Did not really notice a change. I eat less because I know I am supposed to and not necessarily because I can't eat more. I have never had nausea, vomiting or severe gas pains. I can feel the band so I know it's there. I eat much slower and try to follow rules. I think I will follow your advise and see if I can get in to see Dr. earlier.

Thanks,

Jen

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well. I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening. So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this?? Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
