Not Enough Calories

Recommended Posts

I just met with my nutritionist about a week ago, and she told me that I might be too low. I'm getting 900-1000 calories a day, and she said I should be at around 1200. I've been losing okay, so I'm not too worried about it right now, but if I go into a stall, I'll need to bump it up some.

Yes, absolutely. At about 6 weeks I was still only eating about 500 calories and I was exercising an hour a day burning over 200 calories. My body was in starvation mode and I stopped losing for 4 weeks.

I was told to eat more and exercise less! First time in my life where I had been given that advice. LOL!

Anyway, I increased my Protein even more, also got my calories up to about 800 and decreased my exercise to 40 minutes per day. My stall broke within a couple of days after I made the change.

Good luck!

Thank you, all! That is exactly what I needed to know. I've been averaging around 600 calories and felt guilty for that when I would read about other people only eating 300-500 cal per day. I felt like I was overeating, but I'm not really losing weight. Your comments really helped. Btw, I'm one month post-op.

My nutritionist said to eat around 750 calories and I am 4 months out. I stalled forever. I wonder if my body was in starvation mode. Now I only pay attention to getting my Protein. If I go over...oh well. I've started losing again. Drives me nuts that we r all told something different.

I am 3m out and I set my cals at 700 a day. With exercise I add calories burned back into my daily calorie goal... Well my fitness pal does it for me. Lol but I try to stay at 700. I am 12 weeks out and down 43 pounds.

I agree about it driving me nuts but we are all told different things! I just change my calorie intake to 800 on my fitness pal. I'll see if I can get in that many calories each day. I guess it will just be a trial and error situation.

I am one month out and get about 400--500 calories a day. I am not losing either. I see my surgeon on Tuesday for my one month follow up. I was never told how many calories to aim for a day. Ii was told to aim for 60 grams of Protein, that is it. Well, that could be 2 Protein shakes and that is only 320 calories.

I'm five months out and have been in a stall for a month. The weight flew off the first four months. I tried it all, increased intake, increased Protein, increased exercise. Then turned it back around. I'm holding now at around 700 cal and around 100 protein? I go for a follow up this week and plan to talk to the Nut about it. I honestly just don't know. It just hit me, maybe if I go back to just liquids for a few days it will kick start something. Well, I guess instead of doing something new let's see what the Nut says.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
