Not too bad yesterday..snow day so no school! Started with an exercise DVD. Did ok on food..one handful of chips and salsa ???? but good choices other than that. I ordered a fit bit zip yesterday for me and the hubs..if any of you track steps..what do you aim for? Glad to see everyone posting. @ssuther..let us know how your barium goes. Praying all is well

Today's plan

B--Greek yogurt

L-- frozen dinner

S--turkey Jerky

D--chili

There will be a dessert because I'm having bunko at my house..I don't know what she's bringing but I will have a small amount.

Have a great day!

Yesterday was surprisingly calm and successful for me. I felt a little unmoored by not tracking food, but made all good high Protein choices in moderate amounts. I got my stairs in. I wasn't tempted to overeat or snack. So far, so good. Same plan today.

Well, no barium swallow test. We had an unexpected 4-5" of snow last night. I drove for an hour watching cars slip, slide, & crash. I have zip experience with this stuff having moved from south Georgia. I called the facility and rescheduled for next week and came home. It wasn't worth it!

Sounds like you guys are up and at 'em this morning! I've got meals planned and working on my second tumbler of Water now. My husband and I will walk with Leslie tonight. We might even go out and walk in the snow for a bit. Our daughter loves that!

I'll check in later. Make it a good one!

Absolutely! .

It was better today then it was last night. My husband just called to tell me he had some more today which I'm guessing means I better plan on making something else for dinner tonight because it's gone:-) That's always a sign that it was good!

1lb. Boneless skinless chicken breast- 480 cal

1/4 cup lite mayo- 70 cal

1 5.3oz PLAIN Okios Non-Fat Greek Yogurt- 80 cal

3 Tlb flour- 84 cal

1 1/2 cups skim milk- 120 cal

1 Tlb. olive oil- 119

1 small onion- 29 cal

1 8 oz package fresh mushrooms sliced- 80 cal

1 package of frozen chopped broccoli- steamed- Approx. 50 cal. I think this was an 8oz bag

3/4 cup 2% sharp shredded cheese- 240 cal

I love garlic so I minced an entire head:-)

Makes 6 servings ea. at approx. 225 cal. ea. I rounded up to 250 just in case I was off somewhere:-)

Steam your broccoli and set aside.

Chopped your garlic, mushrooms and onions and sauté in 1 tlb of olive oil for about 5 min. Dice your chicken and add it to the onion mushroom mixture and cook until chicken is done. Once the chicken is cooked stir in 3 Tlb of flour and cook for 1 min. then add in the milk stirring constantly let bubble and thicken about 3 min.. Transfer into a 8 X8 baking dish, mix in the broccoli, s & p, yogurt and mayo. Top with 3/4 cup of 2% sharp cheddar cheese. Bake at 350 for 20 min. YUMMMM!

That sounds great! Thanks for sharing!

Well, our snowday and change in all routine threw me for a loop today. Both of my peas were home and we ended up at a corner restaurant for lunch. While I counted it all, I am over my usual caloric intake by about 300 and feel like crap tonight.

The good, bad, & the ugly will be shared here, right? No whining, no excuses, just a plan!

Here it is:

Extra Water tonight & tomorrow to flush sodium and the junk. I walked 3 miles with Leslie tonight, but it was half-hearted since I'm lugging junk in my belly. I commit to 2 miles tomorrow morning, 3 miles tomorrow evening, and eating according to my plan tomorrow.

Posting here for accountability. As I've shared, I normally don't post or log the "bad" stuff, but am trying a new approach.

Onward and downward....

How are y'all?

Ok my biggest accomplishment for today, my kids wanted my favorite treat tonight so I took them fully planning on getting myself one too BUT then I pictured that swimsuit I want and I didn't do it. The little victories over food feels great. It gives you tha t sense of control and strength over food.

Calories 1250, 88oz of Water and exercise. Good day!

I got hungry an hour before lunch, so I had a handful of almonds. I normally don't like to snack, but my stomach was truly growling. dinner went well. Got all my stairs in. Feels weird not to be counting calories, but today was moderate and on target. Fighting the urge to add up all the numbers in my head.

I weighed this morning. Lost another 2 pounds.

Plan for today is pretty similar to yesterday. I'm prob gonna ditch the b fast I packed. Not the best food choice. They have fresh fruit at my first stop. If it looks good that is what will happen.

We have a meeting at 3 pm. And the e mail said in bold letters pizza WILL BE SERVED. so I will prob only eat part of my lunch and go for 1 piece at the meeting.

Gonna try to hit 1hr walk and 300 step ups. I will take a break from e-kill.

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
