45 minutes walking at work. Bunch of Water and meals were small. We had my fave for supper. Beans and Cornbread..(hillbillies) Held myself to 1 piece of cornbread and 1/2 bowl of bean Soup. Ate my chunks of ham first!

My right knee was hurting pretty bad today so I took a day off from the elliptical. I got some really good advice from some seasoned runners on another site. They advised me to take things slow and "walk" my 5 k until I get a good part of the weight off. They said I should stay with the low impact elliptical as well. Thoughts?

I did sign up for a 5k walk for April 1 In Miamisburg OH.

Hope everyone killed it today!

Back in the saddle again! Whirlwind here with life. People in from FL for any minute new grand baby's arrival. My mom has been in and out of the hospital x2 in 10 days. Not improving greatly yet and at 90 we can be caring and helpful. Plaster job gone bad on new sunroom was so graciously repaired by our contractor in the middle of the previously mentioned hoopla! Love mixing all these issues with plaster dust LOL! Just noting how all the life changes affect me.... I need to refocus and get things in perspective. So for today... I am shoveling 3 inches of new snow for exercise at 3 homes and calling it exercise fresh air and solitude with nature. Actually looking forward to it! Making a marvelous marinated sirloin roast, fresh green Beans and roasted cauliflower for dinner. Doing edging for hubby with paint in sunroom and he will paint walls and ceilings. Checking on Mom 3 times a day so I do get breaks! LOL. God is good and my wt is holding ! I have found a papaya extract chewable that is said to help with acid reflux. So far so good! Blessings on your day and may the peace of WLS keep you on your journey of wellness!

@@bacon - have you seen the couch to 5k program? I have friends that swear by it.

@@punkinvine - glad to see you back. I missed your posts! Sorry about your mom. I know how that is. My grandparents are in their 90s, my mom in her 70s, and it's not easy.

I got my exercise in yesterday. I did a 30 minute video yesterday morning and then a 45 minute butt-kicker in the evening. I'm sure I'm gonna be sore.

Well, friends, I have food planned for the day. I should come in just under 1000 calories. Today is an off day for exercise. I've already gotten a good jump on my Water. Yesterday was a victory. I planned a treat for dinner (won't post so that I don't trigger anyone with food porn), I logged and counted it, so no guilt. There was a piece left that my husband and daughter didn't want and I threw it in the disposal so that I wouldn't be tempted later. That's huge for me! In the past, I would have waited until I was by myself and eaten it quickly and secretly. I will take the small victories with the big ones!!

What are your plans for today?

If anyone is wiling to share, I'd love to discuss Protein shakes. While my NP was a big fan, my new surgeon is not. He doesn't want me having the extra calories and sugar. My brand is low carbs, low sugar, no aspertame, and packs a nice punch of Protein for the calories. My former NP totally approved. Anyway...I'd love to hear what you use, when you use it, and the stats on the shakes. I'll share too if anyone wants to know what I use to boost protein.

Have a dandy day!!!

@@s_suther I have looked at the c25k program. I can hardly wait to start it. But I think I will wait until I get under 220. I really want not to quit exercising because of joint issues. I already have bad shoulders from lifting the hoses at work. The main thing is to stay committed and active.

Today was pretty miserable at work. I worked 14 hours and I got to drive in freezing rain, sleet, light snow, white out conditions, deep wet snow, and it warmed up to 33 and we got fog. Ok nuff complaining. I did walk about an hour at work and did 150 step-ups. When I got home I ran the snow blower for an hour. Ate supper and took a 30 minute stroll on the elliptical.

Water was good. Meals started out good but ate a bigger lunch than I have in the last two weeks. Def not a binge, just bigger. Supper same.

Well I hope that the temp stays at least 30 or so tonight. I want to do an outside walk in the morning.

@@punkinvine It sounds like you have a lot on you right now. You are in our prayers.

18 degrees this morning. So this fat guy hit the elliptical instead of a much wanted outside walk. 30 minutes. I bumped up the resistance from 3 to 4. Kicked my tail. I hope all is well in Tennessee @s_suther I saw that White and Scott counties got a ton of ice. Have a good day ya'll.

@@bacon - All is well! Had approx 6" of snow that turned to ice due to temps down to zero & below. My daughter didn't have school for the entire week, but enjoyed her first snow and all that goes along with it. We moved to NE TN back in May from SW GA, so this whole winter thing is all new to us!

Meals are planned - chicken tortilla Soup in the crockpot since it's cold & rainy here. Good day for it and we can eat on it all day. Win-win! We rushed off to church and I didn't get my shake in, so I'll have that first. I've already had about half of my Water. All is well here and hope it is for you guys too!

Have a dandy day!

All I'm going to say is today was a FAIL! But tomorrow is another day.

Okay, let's ponder this. What was a fail? Binge, food choices? What caused it? Did you just want it or was it a planning thing? Seriously, let's "talk" through this. I'm trying to hold you accountable and help you with healthy decisions. I hope you would do the same for me. Talk to me...

I ate more than I planned to. I ate past full both lunch and supper. I ate 5 Cookies that was not on the plan. Little Water. Did get exercise. I am afraid to slip back into the binge cycle.

For good or for bad, this week I am trying something different. I will eat mindfully and focus on how my stomach feels and listen to my band. I am choosing not to log my food for this week. This is new because I've logged since pre op. I'm not going wild. If anything I'm trying to connect eating and satiety to hunger better this week. I'm committing to 24 flights of stairs and mindful eating. I plan to weigh in after the week is over.

@@2babutterfly - that's what I'm talking about!!!!! Bad weekend, but you are moving on with a plan for today. Way to turn it around!!

@@bacon - not a total "fail" in my book. So your decisions weren't all good, but you did exercise, you chose not to binge, you posted here for accountability. Those are victories, friend, even on a not-swell day.

I was just talking to my husband about my mindset last night. I define my days as "good" and "bad". It's only a good day if I did everything to the T. If it's a bad day, I usually let myself go completely off the chain. I also don't post here. That's a BIGGIE. Why????????? If I could have one ultimate goal (as mentioned earlier by @enjoythetime), I will stop this kind of thinking. I'm working on it by planning, and documenting, treats and exercising regardless of food choices. It's a start!

I beg of you, if you don't see me on here, even for a day, CALL ME OUT. Please. We need to post here (the good, bad, & the ugly) in order to hold each other accountable and learn to deal. I learned from @@bacon sharing and hope we can keep up our momentum. This thread is helping me so much, just learning to live life after WLS and deal with my issues with food. Thank you guys for that!!

Meals are planned & in my fitness pal, Water will be consumed, and exercise is about to happen.

Have a dandy day! I'll check in later.

@@HealthyNewMe & @@nailpro00, hope all is well. I'd love to hear from you.

Awesome!! Share your thoughts along the way as I'm totally interested in how this works for you. I think the food/exercise log is part of my OCD "good" & "bad" thinking I posted about a minute ago. Please share how this goes, if you don't mind!!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
