I'm having surgery next week, the 24th and it's starting to set in. I have already made a list of things to pack for the hospital and compile all the meds I need for afterwards. I'm so ready to get this overwith but the days seem to be dragging!!!

Also-I have to admit. My family ate hoagies for dinner last night and I had ONE inch of a sub....OMG it felt so good to CHEW something. I won't cheat again because surgery is so close but man, it tasted so good.

I'm day three post op and understand doing pretty good! I just worry about dehydration cuz I'm home now and so no more saline drip. My pain isn't bad just uncomfortable. I weigh 5 pounds more than when I started but I suppose it's gas! I'm only burping. So all of you waiting out there try not to be nervous. Have them stay on top of your pain meds and nausea medicine and you'll be fine!

I'm on day 4 post-op. It's was a tough first couple days but it is definitely getting better. Having a hard time with liquids. Each sip makes me burp like I chugged some beer or soda. It's so painful. Can't sleep more than a couple hours at a time. I'm walking at least 30 mins a day. I do feel weak though. Any tips?

Five days into preop diet and I've had a two day headache. Gave up caffeine soda and fast food six months ago and have been doing shakes for a few months. Input or suggestions?

How's your Water intake? Are you getting at least 64oz?

Yup doing about 80oz. Sip sip sip. Might be the weather with the spring snow. Just finished at the gym and it eased up a little. Said screw it and took some excedrine too.

Not drinking enough! Dehydration does that

It could be allergies, how did the excedrine work? Next time try tyenol because excederine has aspirin (blood thinner) in it, I know my doc has me off all those types of meds until after surgery. Hope you are feeling better :)

@ You know i haven't done my Flonase in awhile. The gym did seem to help strangely enough.

Yeah i have to stop NSADs before surgery. Not happy about it. Crushed vertebrae and hip replaced, Celebrex got me off pain meds. I know the weight loss will make it more tolerable but it's a point I'm going to argue.

I had surgery yesterday and I am home now. Everything went well but I did get a lot of nausea & I still have terrible pain and pressure from the gas. I did a lot of walking but the gas won't move down from my chest. Any suggestions? I am still walking.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
