It's been 4 months and I'm feeling great. so far I've lost 65lbs went from a size 3x to now XL/1x and I'm able to tolerate everything. I don't dump, have nausea or any of that stuff. I've been very very careful with my eating and chewing. however I am experiencing hair loss which I know a lot of rnys have to go through. it started around my 3 month post op but I think it has slowed down (I hope). life has been pretty normal.. I have more confidence now.. and actually feel good about myself. before this I was in a very dark place but things are going ok now. a little about my diet I have Protein throughout the day such as fish, chicken, Beans, etc along with my veggies. that's basically the only way I eat of course and I absolutely love it! no rice, no Pasta, bread, etc.. which I find is so great. I love this diet and will always follow it for the rest of my life. I l have no interest in those old carby foods.. anyways.. I'm really looking forward and can't wait to see myself on my 1 year surgiversary. I hope everyone is doing well and good luck to those now starting/already on their journey wishing everyone the best new year filled with great health and success. take care all ♥

Congratulations Vickie, we both had our RNY the same month. I'm doing good so far too. I hope to hear about your progress in the months to come.

I am three weeks post-op yesterday. I'm kind of in the heat of the struggle right now. Hearing about your success and that things didn't get better for you is giving me the courage to continue. Keep the good news coming!

You must be patient and stay the course. The weight will come off. Everyone has there own pace in this game. For me everything just fell off until three weeks ago and then nothing. But I know in time the weight will start coming off again. Best of luck to you.

10 pounds in 3 weeks ... i think that's great. please remember that the iv fluids you received in the hospital added weight to you. how many calories are you having a day? how much Protein? I'm two months out. I am learning patience and practicing gratitude. Im also learning to eat more slowly and to chew chew chew my food.

How long before you can have steak? Do you feel like you are missing out on other things

I think you can have steak about three months after surgery but I'm not sure since I haven't eaten any steak yet. Beef is a little hard for my pouch and when I did have beef I wasn't thrilled with the taste.

I am 3 months post and I eat steak. I have for a month now. I love it. All I have to do is chew it well. It's easier if I cut it into tiny bites. I don't eat any fat or gristle.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
