This thread really made me laugh.

I have heard:

1. I didn't realize your head was so big.

2. You have a turkey waddle.

3. Don't you feel so much better now?

4. Are you ok? (I had a conference with customers and finally had to leak that I had the surgery because so many were asking my coworkers if I had some type of serious illness)

5. You look like you did when you left my house. (My Mom) She thinks that she didn't instill bad eating habits into my life which I am totally responsible for but growing up in my house was not helpful.

6. There have been others but I can't remember them.

Here is the thing though. I don't care what people think that much. You can think I took the easy way out and I'm fine with that. My health isn't changing because of your opinion.

I don't mind talking about the surgery and am open with it after I knew it was going to work. I always make jokes and use myself as a target to not offend others quite a bit of the time. Life is just easier if you can laugh.

I also know sometimes my mind gets ahead of my mouth and I say things that don't make sense so I cut people slack when their mouth is ahead of their mind.

Most of it is just ignorance from people who have never had to endure the struggle that obesity is. They can't equate it to whatever struggles they have.

My very good girlfriend said she hated my huge legs. I was speechless. Still SMH!

kind and considerate like calling me an ass? You troll the boards looking for ways to attack me lipsticklady. Instead of taking apology after apology for doing nothing wrong by the way, you still will do anything to attack me. SO I will have to keep all my posts to the mens section where you aren't allowed. Thank you for forcing me off the forums.

That being said. Calling someone fat in the past tense is not some kind of malicious attack, especially if they were fat. If someone was a blond and became a brunette would it be rude to say hey I like the brunette better than the blond? no its not , its a physical thing. If you don't like being fat you change it, and you did. which as I said is wonderful. and inspirational, not that you give a crap coming from an ass, some people want people to acknowledge they are thin now, but forget that they were ever fat.

Ill take being an ass if being an ass means I live in reality.

In the words of a great SNL skit, Buh Bye.

She put a disclaimer on her post that she wasn't calling anyone here an ass. But I think that it is merely a matter of opinion. No one is allowed to call me fat. True or not it's offensive. It's like calling a gay man a fag. Some people don't care about it and to them it's just a word but to some it's an offensive word. I'm 5 feet tall, being short doesn't bother me so being called shorty or whatever doesn't offend me. But on the other hand being fat does bother me so for someone to put emphasis on that is rude and offensive.

If it doesn't bother you that's fine but just like I can't make you understand how I feel and you can't make someone else understand how you feel.

Fat is just a descriptive word, it is only an insult if you take it that way. Now if they said something like big as a house, or tubby or some other derogatory slang, that would be different. Remembering where I was, helps me stay on track. Good friends WILL tell you that you are fat. The person didn't say that you look better or prettier, now, just that you look DIFFERENT, which is accurate. I would hope that you look different after such an extraordinary weight loss accomplishment. Congratulations!

My good FRIENDS would NEVER call me fat! Just like I wouldn't say anything like that to them. Suggesting we go for a walk, yes, suggesting we go to the gym together, yes! But flat out calling me fat...NEVER. If that's your relationship with your friends then great for you but that's not normal in everybody's life

See, those are the friends I do have and want. "Yes, those pants make you look fat". "No, that's not a good look for you" "don't cut your hair that short, it looks better long", "that hair color makes you look old". "That was a pretty stupid move", "Why do you keep going out with losers?" "Why do you let her push you around?" "Are you ever going to wash your truck?", "You need to brush your teeth...your breath stinks". "You're being a b***h".....

For me, honesty defines a relationship and I don't want to have to be PC with my friends, and vice versa. We aren't being mean or judgmental towards one another. My feelings aren't hurt when they say theses things. I consider it constructive criticism and fully expect it of my friends. I would be more hurt if they tried to be "nice" by not telling it like it is. And we continue to support and love each other despite our differences in opinion, bad decisions, hairdos, guys we date and weight gains and losses.

Your examples are a world away from going to a friend and saying "you're fat" or "you've gained weight" or even "dang last year you were so fat, you look great now" those are not things I want my friends to say to me and they won't! But if my hair color is a mess or my clothes don't fit properly.....I can take that. But I struggle with my weight just like all of us here and to point it out is offensive

Oh. I see. Hope she's ok. I enjoy these forums, and some of them that get really rapid-fire busy are really entertaining. I don't take offense generally.

@@wannaBthinsoon ...

Really sorry to alarm you. And thanks for checking with me. I'm just fine. :)

@@LipstickLady is right ... "F U" is something I just might say to someone who came up with one of these bizarre comments, especially like the thing @@Bobby46 's boss said to her.

I'm actually famous for using the F-bomb at highly appropriate moments. :)

I was raised that if someone says something rude you just ignore it and carry on. to say something rude back is the same as the person who said the rude thing in the first place. SO I wouldn't waste the time.

But wait! You THOUGHT (incorrectly) I called you an ass, so you called me a troll and accused me of all kinds of ugly nonsense, yet you don't waste your time by saying rude things back to people who say rude things to you? MMmmkay. ;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
