Anyone lose hair before surgery?

I started this journey back in August and drastrically changed my diet and over the last month my hair has been falling out like crazy. My doctor said I could be losing my hair because of the drastic changes however he sees most people have this after surgery. Anyone else have this happen? Does it ever slow down? I was already pretty thin.

Thanks!

Yep. And yes it will slow down eventually. Make sure to get your labs checked. Anemia and vitamin deficiencies can cause hair loss.

I started my weight loss program (primarily low carb) around 6/1 and noticed more hair falling out when I washed it. I'm down 31lbs from my highest weight with the low carb diet and I've been taking a multivitamin, B12, Vit D, and Metformin for PCOS. I think my hair is thinner than it used to be, but my beautician doesn't think it's too thin. She suggested washing every other day instead of daily. Anyway, I don't know exactly why it's thinning, but must be due to the diet. Now I'm worried that I'll lose a lot more after my surgery.

My scap is dry and stings, I am having hair loss too. I have been in program since May. I'm about to start full liquids again - first time was 32 days. Surgery is finally scheduled for January 8th.

I'm taking E & biotin & Multivitamin
