D,

Were you born there?

Idaho, Ohio, they are the same right?

Well kids I called for a fill. You might recall I had and cancelled an appointment for the first of the month. Yesterday's ability to eat a Mc D's sausage biscuit, in the morning and in less than 10 minutes pretty much convinced me I'm far too open. (keep it clean, BG)

This is some stuff.

Well that's about it. I did work out today and will again tomorrow. My trainer dude is being replaced by a trainer babe. Should be fun.

XO

Hi Everyone!

J: Yes, there is the HHH (Hancock Horizontal Hundred) coming in September. It's a fun ride...no hills! (sorry J). You can do 32, 64 or 100 miles. Other than that I'm not sure. We have Bike to the Bay in a few weeks (for MS) but that starts in Maumee, Ohio. I can check to see if there are any others coming up that I haven't mentioned.

Guess what?....possibility of moving to C-bus! Lots of details to work out, but it may happen. DH may transfer there.

On a completely different note than bycyling...

I got another fill on Friday. I am so tight in the mornings that I can't eat Breakfast. Even drinking is uncomfortable. It stays like this until well into the afternoon. By evening I can eat 1/2 cup, but am pretty hungry by then and find myself eating more often and it must be soft foods (ie, sliders). I called the doctor's office yesterday and the nurse did not seem surprised nor concerned. Is this how most of you are? I have read that many are tighter in the am vs. pm, but shouldn't I be able to eat something? I am drinking a lot of Protein Shakes to get by. Thanks for your input...anyone!

I know what you mean. I am like that in the morning as well. But, I am making some bad food choices and bad drink choices and it is starting to show in the scale. I am going to have to hit it hard if I want to get to my goal by August. I have a short term goal for myself and I really want to get to it......just need to get my BUTT in gear

If gas was not so high and I was not broke we would be doing some more rides that are coming up. But honestly, we can save money and ride local and have just as much fun....wthout the t-shirt of course...

Turler..hang in there...and good luck in the DH job that would be good. I would love to visit Columbus...I want to go to Performance bike there!!!

You sound a little tight...it's your call if you are too tight or not. You can get some food in you at some point so you're not going to die and you can get in tea/liquid in the mornings.

Give it two weeks, they do loosen up a bit, so if in 2 weeks you are miserable get a tiny unfill...but don't panic, what you have going on is normal.

If you need to puree your meatloaf or chicken salad to get it down, do that. Don't rely on ice-cream to get you through this tight stretch. Just saying....

And woot woot, watch the numbers drop on the scale.

BTW, I'd love to have you in Columbus, but what about DD and high school???? OMG, would she be miserable?

Is someone drinking Mt Dew again??? Just teasing. Is it me or is it increasingly difficult not to want to cheat more these days?

What's your goal for August? I need to set some number goals for myself. I'm losing only about 0.5 pounds a week. And that just will not do.

About Performance, I feel spoiled. There are so many bike stores in this town and there's such a cool cycling community. There's a non profit, Consider Biking, group that's really amazing. They are working at combining the different cycling interest groups together, from the green college kids to the older retired bike enthueists...I'm looking to give them some of my time when I get some.

All very awesome.

Hi, been a while since I posted. I take spinning/cycling classes at the gym 4-5 times a week for one hour. I had my first fill yesterday and missed this morning's class. I feel a little gaseous. I will go Saturday and possibly to tommorrow's class. I love cycling, it challenges me and pushes me to limits that I thought I could not acheive. I had surgery on 4-14-08, I was 261, I am now 222, I lost this without a fill. I believe that prayer and cycling helped me to accomplish this amount of weight loss. I am shooting for 200lbs by way of being on the road again. Go cycling! I want to join a real cycling club now, I believe I am strong enough.

J

I am shooting for being at 200 or as close to it by August 16th.

Dews??? ME>??????

I am making a effort to change this ASAP! This is not helping me...I am defiantly not consuming too much food as calories, so this is my only fault.....other than laziness!!! HAHA

I like the small bike shops....and I know there is a college town within an hour from me, and some of the shops are snooty, where others are not.I just want to visit Performance....Never been.

I am planning on starting this effort to get back on the downwards scale today.....I like the way i look and feel, and i think it has given me the "OK" to be comfortable...but I want so much more.....which is why I added the quote at my signature....have to keep pushing for the ultimate goal and not get into a rut!

J, I know what you are talking about. It seems so different now than it did a month or two out of surgery. I don't like it, it just is. I love the way I feel too, HP, and want to continue to lose more, but I think if I stopped here, I think I would be fine (really though, I would be disappointed in myself), because I can move now, I can breath at night, I am off all medications and I actually want to leave to the house now. I do know that the smaller I am, the easier it will be to climb some of the huge mountain passes we have, and easier to bike altogether. My husband can fly past me going up steep hills and I mostly have to gear down to one-one most of the time. I did do a steep hill the other day and only went to two-one and stood up some of the time and did not stop at all.

What are we gonna do with ourselves? We need some different kind of motivation.....BUT WHAT????

I keep telling myself I've got three years to make it to goal.

But the reality is that I've got a year before I leave this job and want to have PS while still employed by the state of Ohio.

So I've got to up the activity and stop eating shite.

Let me know if you come up with a plan that works, I need something too. Herumph.

:giggle:

What with all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment,

it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person which almost

went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote “the Hokey Pokey” died peacefully at the age of 93.

The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in…and then the trouble started.

Hi gang.

Newbie here, sorta, and I've been thinking of buying a bike. Never ridden seriously before.

This is what I'm looking at, in the $900 range: BikePedia - 2007 Masi Vincere Complete Bicycle

Thoughts? The guys I'll be hanging with are serious, with 2-3K carbon whatever machines. I don't want to spend that kind of cash yet

Looks like a great bike. The biggest concern is "under buying" a bike but that doesn't seem to be an issue with what you selected.

I ride a $600 bike and it gets the job done. I can take it up hills with out too much torque and it will carry me for 100+ miles at a time.

Don't the carbon guys get to you. Also, tell yourself if the Masi works well for a few years you can upgrade to carbon.

That's my 2 cents.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
