Band to Sleeve patients lose less?

Recommended Posts

It sounds like you are eating too many carbs still. Try to cut way back and see if you start seeing the scale move. Stay away from the breads & Pasta as much as possible.

I had my band to sleeve revision on 8/28/14. I have only lost 22 lbs and have been stalled for the past 6 weeks. I am extremely frustrated. I consume 90-100 grams of Protein, 60-80 carbs, and 1200-1300 calories. I have been walking 1-2 miles, several times a week. I am starting to feel like a failure, or that I am not doing something right. Original SW before band was 275. Lost down to 190. I was 220 when I had the revision done. My goal is 150. It is starting to feel like I have gone through this surgery for nothing.

No carbs is a big key to success with the sleeve. I am now on 60g of Protein a day - all lean protein - chicken, fish, tunafish - some low fat no fat cottage cheese. No yogurt even if it's greek. Vegetables are secondary - I have a few with dinner. No Pasta, bread, rice. I also get at least 2 miles on the treadmill 5 days a week. The scale is moving once again!

I'm hoping when I go from band to sleeve that I'll be too full from the Protein to have room for anything else

They have told me that I am eating too few calories. I am exercising, getting my Protein in, eating 30-35 carbs. I am averaging about 650 or so calories per day. I am not getting all my Water every day

I didn't think I was eating too many carbs until I started putting everything in My Fitness Pal. I have an egg for Breakfast, 1/8 cup of nuts for a snack with a few pieces of beef Jerky, packet of tuna for lunch, Protein Shake for afternoon snack. dinner is usually what ever the family is having just in a smaller portion. I usually do not to eat any bread, Pasta or rice. I was surprised to find out how many foods I thought were high in Protein also had quite a few carbs in them. They seem to add up quickly. I try to stay away from sweets, but allow myself a small sweet item in the evening. I feel that my sleeve is too large. I can eat more than I thought I could. I guess I'm use to only eating a few bites with the band and then feeling "stuck".

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
