Hey everyone,

I am a stay at home mother of three, I have a 2 ½ year old son and twin 9 month old daughters. My surgery is scheduled for May 23rd and my husband took off two weeks from work. Is two weeks enough healing time for me to start caring for my children again?:)

Yes. I have a 2 year old son. I took 2 weeks off as well. You cannot lift more than 10 lbs for the first 2 weeks, so be careful. It's hard for the 2 year olds to understand. I constantly told my son about Mommy's boo boos. I even showed him the incisions. He started to understand and then would ask to see the incisions. He was very careful around me. Good luck!

I don't have any children at home, but I would think that two weeks would be enough time for you to heal....That is great that your husband can take off work...you will need to be careful and not do any lifting...I was restricted for the first three weeks...couldn't lift anything over 20 lbs....

Congratulations on your surgery date...and good luck.....Be sure to post and let us know how you are doing...

The problem is the twin 9 month daughters. You won't be able to lift them for 6-8 weeks, depending on their weight (I would also check this with your doctor). So, you'll have to find other ways to care for them. Like diapering them on the floor instead of lifting them to the changing table.

But it depends on weight. I have a 15 month old daughter who weighs 30 lbs., and I know I'm not going to be able to lift her for 6-8 weeks after surgery. It's the only part I'm not looking forward to, because she's not going to understand! So I plan to spend a lot of time on the floor and I'll just have to get my husband to lift her out of her crib.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
