Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I just found out my surgery will be in July (granted my pre-op testing goes okay) SOOOOOOOOO

Here's a thread for everyone getting banded in July 07!

Does anyone have any good ideas for a neat name we could call ourselves?

Hello Everyone,

Jackie your daughter is beautiful, her dress was gorgeous too.,

Karri - You cook for the whole week, WOW!! Can you come over? Chicken meatloaf, that sounds good!

I can't remember if I posted since I got my date, my BR surgery is scheduled for June 3rd. I'm terrified!

Karri - I have a question, is the plastic surgeon making you get unfilled? I told my fill nurse I was having it done and she said not to come back until after the surgery. If the docs gonna make me get unfilled, I will call and make a new appt. with the nurse. I won't see the doc until the week before surgery. The fill I just got is serious tight, I can't eat much more than mushies.

My lap-band doc and nurse said I didn't need an unfill as long as I don't throw up from anesthesia. My plastic surgeon said I WOULD BE unfilled because she didn't want any nutritional issues. But my surgery is EXTENSIVE. 1 cut from mid hip to mid hip and from groin to breast bone. Plus they will be rearranging my entire torso! So I will have to get about 150 grams of protein for about 2-3 weeks to ensure healing. She didn't want me to end up being so tight that all I could do is get down liquids. I have a HUGE hatred for protein drinks. So I figured if I got to tight that meant sticking a needle in my just operated on and tender tummy. I have a lot of scar tissue that make my fills difficult and painful, so I just had it undone. I would ask your PS though what his/her opinion is. FOr me it was a safety issue and the fact that I live 6 hours away from my lap-band. I didn't want to be driving in the car 2 days after surgery foaming and sliming on my own saliva.

And yes I cook for the whole week. I work too many hours to even attempt during the week. Now throw in the half-marathon training and I will never have time. So Sundays are cooking day! My favorite day of the week!

Chicken Meatloaf Recipe

1/2 pound of ground chicken (I grind chicken tenders with my Kitchen Aid)

1 egg

1/4 cup oatmeal

As many veggies as you want (I used mushrooms, onions, green pepper, garlic, celery, tomatoes, zucchini)

Add your favorite seasonings (dill is very yummy)

Top with tomato sauce or ketchup and parmesean cheese

Mix together and place in a loaf pan. Bake at 350 until internal temp reaches 180 degrees.

This really is a blank slate. The chicken has very little flavor so you can make it taste like whatever you want. I was just trying to get rid of some veggies.

My day started off well today. I woke feeling better than I have in days. Aunt Flo has left for the month, my throat wasn't sore and I got on the scales and I am officially overweight. I'm no longer obese. Woooooohooooooo!

However things didn't stay so good. We got a call today from my sis-in-law. My mother-in-law passed away. The sad thing is she was fiercely independent despite her age (72) and not so good health and she wasn't discovered until this morning when a neighbor worried about not seeing her for more than a week. The coroner looked at her health records, she'd been to the doctor 10 days prior complaining about some gastro problems, he didn't prescribe anything but booked an ultrasound for 3 days ago. The coroner said she had probably been dead for about a week before being discovered. The gastro problems would have made her feel weak and nauseous. She lay down where she was in her hallway and probably suffered a coronary at some point.

It's just so very sad that she was alone at the time and my husband and his siblings are extremely guilt-stricken about it. The thing is, I don't know how to comfort him. I never had a good relationship with my own mother, and while I got on well with his, we weren't exactly close. I just don't know what to do for him or how to help him cope or even what to say.

513v.gif DD & SIL dropped by and I forgot where I was with my Wii story! DH and I were discussing exercise in the car this morning and he said something about buying a Wii. So when we were shopping after lunch I thought I'd check the electronics dept of the store we were in. Asked the clerk if they had any and she said she thought they did. She told me they only get in a few at a time and there are always people on the waiting list. They use a lottery system to see who gets to buy the ones they get in. But this week she only had three people on the list so they had a few extras! So I got one! We've spent the afternoon setting it up and playing with it. Then DD & SIL came over and they played with it too. I did my "Fitness Age" again and came up with a 61 this time!! DH was 71!! SIL was 79 and I think DD was 51!! We had fun! And I got some exercise!! DD & I each did a game of bowling, too. She did really well at that!! I bowled 125.. not too bad.

Karri - Why cut from groin to breast bone?

I have to have a vertical "inverted t-cut" because of the way I carry my weight. If you go back and look SEVERAL pages ago or on the August 07 board on the Plastic Surgery thread you will see that my belly flab and extra skin not only hangs down, but it is off to the side as well. If they just did the bottom cut then I would be left with extra skin on the side and would kind of look like a smooshed accordian. It will help the doc pull in on the sides more and should really enhance the curves. She said most people would benefit from the vertical cut, but not enough to outweigh the fact that you will have a vertical incision. Since I never plan on wearing a bikini and really just want to NOT look like Jabba the Hut's sister I am okay with the vertical cut. She left it totally up to me, but said I would not be happy without it. So they will remove the entire bottom roll and part of the top roll and then stretch it down.

I think I am a little scared too, and to be honest it was one of the reasons that I signed up for the half marathon. THe run is only 4 days before my surgery so I have something to focus on insted of that. You will be fine...after all you will have all of us here pulling for you. My surgery is exactly 1 month after yours so I will be looking to you for motivation. I am sure you will be much happier once it is done.

Wow...what a mixed bag of emotions. First of all... congratulations on being overweight. It is a great club to be in!

Sorry to hear about your MIL. I don't know that there is anything you could do to console him. RIght now he feels very guilty, but in time it will pass. I said something very horrible just as I was checking me voicemail when I found out that my mom had died. Even though I coudn't stand my mom, the comment that I made just as the message started took me a long time to get over. But then I realized that my comment or my not being in the same state did not kill her. It was just her time to go. I guess that is something you could try to express to him. She would have died if he had been there or not. Grief is so hard because everyone deals with it so differently.

Hugs and love to you and your family.

Oh, Ruby,

I'm so sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. That is so very sad. I don't know what you can say to your DH to help... just an understanding hug and a shoulder to cry on.

Hi all,

Sure hope I can get the band in July. I can hardly wait. As it stands now, I will go to the surgeon 4/28 with diet 3 months and have it done sometime the end of July or first of August. The lucky ones are the ones that have the date set.

Ruby - I am so very sorry for the loss of your MIL.. Hugs - There really isn't much to do for your DH except be there - That's the worse part of losing someone - you feel so helpless - you what to help and take their pain away - but we can't.

Hugs & Prayers for your family.

CONGRATS ON BEING OVERWEIGHT

I Am Sorry. I Didn't Mean To Make Them So Big!! I Don't Know How To Make Them Smaller.

Don't worry about the size, Jackie. My eyesight is not what it used to be. I need them big to see them. I could see that your daughter is gorgeous and so happy.

Phyll = did you reserve your work-out tape for Wii?

Steph - I've been thinking about that total gym since I saw it on TV a while ago. If it's good enough for Christie Brinkley, it's good enough for me. Only thing I didn't see, was the cost. How Much is it? I've been checking out gyms and dang, they're expensive...and then you have to figure in the price of gas. (closest one is 25 min away).

Denise - BR...............my life long dream. And now with the weight loss, there is a lot of very loose skin.

We Celebrated GS third birthday today. Little guy was just exhausted. Had a great time though. Made some good food choices for me. I'm pretty proud of myself. Had celery, burger patty,(couldn't figure which was turkey or burger) No bun and a spoonful of potato salad. And yes, I did have a small piece of chocolate cake but no ice cream. And lots of water. Tried to talk dh into burger king on the way home but I resisted. (after he refused...then agreed) I really have to get myself back on track.

Ruby - That's horrible news, I feel so sad for your DH. Guilt is a Bitch to get over. God Bless, I'll say a prayer for him.

I went swimming today, the water was 74. Sounds fine, huh, It was very cold. Any way I was swimming laps and feeling guilty about my Dad's passing. The family situation was horrible, and I have daily sometimes unbearable guilt. I'm typing and just started crying, damn, anyway back to the story. When I got out the pool, I was laying on a lounge chair drying off and looked up in the sky. Their was a cirlcle of color, like a rainbow, but just a solid circle. So I went inside to get my daughter, cause I knew she would appreciate the beauty like I do. After she went back in, I saw God today, by George Straight came on the radio. Isn't that strange? :huh2:The next song was When I get where I'm going, by Brad Paisley.

Is that the new fitness thing that's coming out?? When is it supposed to be on sale?? Didn't know I could reserve one. How do you do that??

Hello everyone!! I want to thank each and every one of you for the wonderful compliments on my DD. I am so proud of her and yes she had a wonderful time. She is the gem of my heart. Sometimes it is VERY hard to feel that way because she is a typical teen but her and her brother mean the world to me. Thank you again!!

Kari-wonderful food choices. We sure have learned a lot huh? Things are so different now. I have to admit that I have to talk myself out of things often too. I go into a store and I will pick things up and put them in the cart but end up taking them back out of the cart before I leave telling myself 'you don't need them!'

Phyl-you crack me up!! I love our wii as well. Congrats to you on finding one. The Wii-Fitness comes out May 28th. I have that on my 'to buy' list. Hope I can get my hands on one. It is supposed to be like aerobics. Who knew exercise could be so fun?! We read an article in our newspaper about nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, physical therapists and etc are using the Wii for patients. They said that people get so involved into the game that they forget about the pain so they are using these on a regular basis. Isn't that great!!!!

Ruby- I am soooo sorry to hear about your MIL. Karri is right grief is a very hard thing and everyone deals differently. There is probably nothing that you could say or do for DH at this time to make him feel better. Just let him know you are there for whatever he needs and he will have to go through the cycle of grief at his own pace. My prayers are with you and your family at this time.

mango-I had a breast reduction back in 2000. I had NO pain what so ever after mine. Some people do but I think that I was so freakin scared of the pain before I went in that I had psyched myself out and had none. I felt so 'FREE' after surgery. HAHA I had lost alot of weight at the time and then had the reduction. I was actually running back then. Then...I don't know what happened.......I quit and gained all my weight back and then some. Oh well that is behind me now. Wait until you see how different you feel not lugging those puppies around.

Janet-sounds like you had a nice relaxing day. I cleaned the house and then had to go shopping for the kids. They are leaving for a school trip to Chicago this Thursday and I had some things to pick up for them. I have decided that I am taking Thursday and Friday off from work. I will get up Thursday morning and take the kids to their bus and then I am going to come home and clean my house thoroughly (again!!) and then enjoy my 4 days with NO RESPONSIBILITIES!!! I plan to still get my walking and exercise in but THAT IS IT!! DH was giving me a hard time earlier because when the kids are gone after a night I always say 'I really miss the kids. I want them home' He thinks I will be a wreck because they have never been gone for more than 48 hours from me even though they are 15 and 16. This will definately be a long haul. Oh well they will have their cell phones. I can check in as many times a day as I need.

Well it is midnight here so I best get my butt to moving towards bed. TTYAL
