Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I just found out my surgery will be in July (granted my pre-op testing goes okay) SOOOOOOOOO

Here's a thread for everyone getting banded in July 07!

Does anyone have any good ideas for a neat name we could call ourselves?

Hi everyone

Chim, glad you've finally got your first fill and it's working in your favor so far. YAY! :whoo:

I got my second today. My doc told me at my first fill that it might take another one or two to find my sweet spot. I haven't been ravenously hungry, but I've been able to eat more than I should have and not lost any weight in two weeks. But the good news is I haven't gained either! So now I have 2.5cc in my 4cc band and am assured I'll definitely feel the restriction. I'm looking forward to it. There are times when I miss eating and sharing different foods with my family, but I sure don't miss the insatiable hunger and over-eating.

I also managed another NSV this week. I went for a check-up with my GP for Insulin Resistance. I had blood drawn and tested for free testosterone and insulin levels. The results came back good! I'm doing better now than I've ever done on the medication I used to get those levels under control. So good in fact I'm NORMAL!!! It's been a good number of years since anyone's told me I'm normal.

Hey gang! I had my first fill yesterday. I got 2ccs put in. I definitely feel the restriction. This morning I had my first meal. I had something get stuck. It went down and I was okay after that. I just had to re-adjust to having restriction. I am super excited!

chim- congrats on the fill!!! How did the whole experience rate compared to others? Did you have any pain? Are yours under fluro?

Thanks, Indigo, and don't quit posting. I miss Dini and Lynette, Aunt Phyl, and the others. Hopefully they'll check in from time to time and update us on their progress. I'm trying to adjust the empty nest, and NOT liking it much. DH has all his hobbies and he is rather enjoying himself, but I miss the volleyball, basketball, soccer games and judo and wrestling matches not to mention homework and dance class and swimming and. . .you get the point! I need grandchildren, but for now you guys are my virtural family.

lindaa-awwwwwww!!! We love being your virutual family. I love this thread and miss all the posts that used to happen too. I am sure others will check in when they can. I miss them all too.

frustrated- congrats on the good numbers with your blood work!! Isn't it wonderful to know we are improving our health!?!?!?! Keep up the great work!

my body bugg...............this thing is freakin amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this thing. I have actually below what I should be eating compared to what I am burning. I have finally at this point hit a 'sweet spot' I think. I just don't get hungry this past week and I am actually REMINDING myself to eat. LOL I am not uncomfortable with the fill and have had no problems yet. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!!! I feel great!! This band is working!!!!!!!!!!!! Now with the bug I am loving being banded on my arm and my stomach. LOL I love down loading my bugg and seeing the calories I burned. At this point so far, even though it has only been 2 days, I have to say I think I am really going to love being bugged as well as banded!!!!! :P:whoo:

NUTS! Despite averaging no more than 1000 cal/day, no weight loss at all this week. Oh well, the band won't let me give up, so onward!

You have lost so much weight already, it's amazing!!! Just hang in there, plateaus are part of the game, you will get over it soon enough.

Congratulations!!!:clap2:

You finally get to rip the benefits of your surgery. :whoo:

You are doing great!

I finally tried one of Kashi's chewy Cookies - VERY GOOD - oatmeal dark chocolate chip - yum! They have 130 Calories, 3 g of Fiber and 2 g of Protein and are VERY filling with lots of whole grains. I tried a Cereal years ago and thought it was terrible, so was reluctant to try, but very pleased.

We're off to Kansas City & NASCAR races (hubby), shopping for me. Hope you all have an awesome weekend!

I had my first embarassing episode at work today. Last night I had some chicken and rice and because it went down fine, I decided to take 1/4 cup leftover to eat at work today. Well, apparently the only time I can eat solids is in the evenings. I was sitting there with a bunch of my co-workers when PB began. I had to run to the bathroom where I stayed for 25 min ( luckly I had enough lunch time left), slimming and feeling like hell. Then I went to my classroom and just before the students walked in I threw up big time in my trash can. I quickly grabbed some Altoids gum and after that felt fine, but let me tell you it wasn't the least bit pleasant.

No more solids for me before 6 pm!

So now my daily menu looks like this:

B- SF hot chocolate- 50 cal

L- Light'n'Fit Smmothie- 60 cal

Snack- 5 olives- 45 cal

D- 1 cup of Protein (meat), veggies and carbs (rice or potatoes)- 400 cal

Now that I see it in writing I think I am too tight. I might call the dr. on Monday.

Jackie - what's it like to wear??? I thought i read that it can tell how many calories you consume a day - how many calories did you but in one day and was that w/or w/o exercise.???

Unruhlyhd

Today at lunch we were talking about eating healthy (refuse to call it a diet cuz this change will be for a life time - not just a few months) and I have been wanting cookies - but i can't buy a bag cuz i will eat then all - i just dont have that kind of will power to eat only 1 -2 or 4 - by the end of the weekend they would be all gone.

Well I had this great idea - take my weight control cinniamon oatmeal and make cookies with it - 1 packet has 160 carlories and 7 gr pt.

So when i got home i tried it - wanted to add a tad of eggbeater but only had southwestern flavor - so added just a tad eggwhite - tiny box of raisin - a sprinkle of bakeing soda and just enought Water to moisten. sprayed the cookie sheet w/butter pam - - i had them on the cookie sheet then thought i should add some more splenda - so did it and sorta mixed them on the cookie sheet - sprayed them with more pam baked in 350 for about 6 minutes.

it makes 4 cookie @ 40 calories each

They came out ok - do need more splenda added in the mixing stage and not as an after thought - and the eggbeater would have been better.

But they aren't bad if you want a few cookies without the calories and with out haveing a whole bag sitting around tempting you.

Does anyone remember the WW pumpkin muffins that you got 6 muffins for 1 veggie exchange - I know i am dating my self - some of you only know the point system ponder.gif Well those muffins were a life saver for me - i wish i could have that receipe again - use to make it w/sweet n low but it didn't bake well - now w/splenda i bet they would be good. I couldnt eat all six but heck one would be nice ..

So whadda ya'll think of my great idea - anyone know how i might improve on it without adding any calories???

IMHO you are not eating enought !!!!! you arent getting your protein!!! ya me thinks you might need a tad unfill - please add some Soup w/protein powder or some shakes

Indio- after I posted I got hungry again and ate a South Beach cereal bar for 100 cal and 6 ff saltines. I am now satisfied but not full. The only problem is that I have not been able to eat solids before 5 pm!

Well Soups for lunch aren't bad or oatmeal for Breakfast - but i still think you need more Protein - you don't want your hair falling out !!!! I know i am sounding like a mom and you most likely don't need another one.. but I really want to to you get more protein - remember protein 1st (well at least this is what my doc says)

I am usually full but not satisfied after eating - i want to eat more cuz it taste so good -

It's taken me a while to catch up on the posts cause I haven't been here in a long time. Life and work has been keeping me extra busy.

Congrat's to everyone on the weight loss. No matter if it's a large or small amount, every bit counts.

I had my first fill this morning. 1.8cc. I was a little sore today and stomach a little upset. I'm back on liquids for 3 days and then mushies for 2 weeks. So far I've lost 39 pounds and I'm looking forward to losing more and not being so hungry all the time.

My husband is so supportive but he keeps telling me I have to get the band removed because my boobs are getting smaller. lol I'm going out tomorrow to buy a new bra.

Wrangler 54 :clap2::clap2::clap2: 39 lbs that GREAT !!!! I need some new bra's too. Was a 42 c - now?? 40 or 38 ??? Maybe on Sunday...

CeCe--The EXACT same thing happened to me today--only some of the students were already in the room and there wasn't a trash can near by. OMG! I don't think any of them realized what was going on when I bent over behind the desk, and I was able to slip out of the room and get some paper towels and subtly clean it up before class was supposed to start. I proceeded to lecture about blood for 1 1/2 hours but I have never been so embarrased in my life. No more breakfast for me! No way. That CAN NOT happen again.

Trying to keep up with the posts by logging on once or twice a day! A challenge!

This is our last night in Buffalo. Flying home to Seattle tomorrow afternoon. I will be glad to get back home and back to more normal eating patterns! Too much eating out here with family! Tonight we had 20 people out for fish fry! That was after spending the afternoon at the casino! I broke even!

I will be afraid to get on the scale when I get home. Not only all the eating out, but very swollen legs & feet and all day on airplanes tomorrow!! Ugh! Hoping to upgrade to first class with some of our mileage for the Atlanta-Seattle flight!

Good to get all your news & updates! Janet, you are a whiz kid! Keeping on top of everything & everyone!

Not a wiz kid at all - it was slow at work this week (my boss on vacation) and so i would work on a file - then ck lap band - work on a file ck lap band - some days i feel really smart - like i am some band expert - ya right - i just someone who is highly motivated about this band - it does help - not the 100% answer but a very good help up - i have been reading my "you on a diet book" great insight on why we eat... and Bob Greene's info too.. I do feel that the more knowledge and understanding you have the better choices you can make.

Our biggest challenge isn't just getting the weight off - we have all done that many times over - it's how to keep it off. This is what we have to educate ourselves on.. We have to make these lifestyle changes not just dieting..

Well enought preaching for tonight...

Your fish fry sounds great - I am having ck & rice tonite.. I bet you will be glad to get home - sorry to hear that you swell up so much on the plane- hope you get that upgrade - I would love to fly 1st class - but i would have to have mega bucks to pay those prices and i don't fly enough to have miles or get upgrades

Can't wait til november - My gosh by the time we meet in person we will be "old friend" sorta cool if you think about it - will take the awarkness away - we will sit down to chat like we have been freinds forever

Have a safe trip home - talk to you later

xoxo

Janet

I knew you were a WW'er by the tone of many of your messages!! I have spent a lot of time in meetings over the years, it's just too bad I couldn't learn to apply their messages permanently. I am a lifetime member-been at goal twice and lost 20 plus maybe 4 times. Always regained it.

So, YES, of course I have the recipe, I've done points and exchanges- every tweak of the WW plan since about 1982. I also have the pumpkin mousse which I still make sometimes.

Anyway, here they are-

Pumpkin Muffins

2/3 cup powdered milk

1/2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp cinnamon

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

6 TB flour

1 tsp baking soda

8 pkgs sweetner

Mix all together then add:

2 beaten eggs 4 T raisins

1 cup pumpkin

1/2 cup shredded carrots

1 tsp vanilla.

Mix well.

Spray muffin tin, Bake at 350-----my recipe does not have the time, but if I recall correct it's about 15 minutes. Just watch them.

Pumpkin Mousse

2 pkgs sugar free vanilla pudding

2 cups skim milk

1 cup pumpkin, canned

1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

1 cup fat free cool whip

Beat pudding, milk, pumpkin and spice with whisk. Fold in cool whip. Refrigerate for at least one hour.
