Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

I just found out my surgery will be in July (granted my pre-op testing goes okay) SOOOOOOOOO

Here's a thread for everyone getting banded in July 07!

Does anyone have any good ideas for a neat name we could call ourselves?

Well, I fell in the black hole of trying to numb myself with food tonight. I am going through something very hugh and upsetting with my 19 year old son. By the time evening came around, I started with the microwave popcorn (I was trying to not be bad)- then proceeded to pringles....then a leftover hamburger in my fridge. I was amazed at how much I was able to eat in such a small amount of time (and it all went down fine)- I dont know what to do!!!!!!!!!!!! Eating is what I do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am in such a distructive state!!!!!!!!!!

Anna, stop beating yourself up and start looking for other things to occupy your mind instead of food. You know I've been there too! Take a big glass of water, and while you drink it let it be what fills you up and washes away your earlier eating. Then get out of the kitchen and go talk to your DH or call a friend or your kids. Don't give in to the binge and also don't beat yourself up tomorrow!!! BTW, your band will need a few fills before you're at that sweet spot, so it won't stop a full on binge yet.

Take care!!!

Kathy thanks for responding so quickly- Im sitting here with my water.....Im actually kind of glad I didnt get sick, because, that would have been just one more thing to deal with. I did call a friend and she was great to talk to, and she prayed for me also, which was very comforting. My husband did what he does in times of stress--he shuts down and doesnt want to talk, my kids have been living with the situation in the house for a long time (which kills me that they have to go through this also)- I think thats what triggered my bindge (guilt for my other 3 kids)---Its amazing what hold food has over me. I definatly try to numb myself.

Laurend- How is school going?
It's going great! My students are pretty good and I'm getting better at lecturing. The hardest part so far is my time management. I have a hard time with determining how long it will take me to go talk about things. Occasionally I don't lecture long enough, but I'm getting better at it.

It's amazing how we tend to take on the protector role for our family. My DH will spend his way through stress and will panic or worry himself into a panic attack. I'm always the one to manage the doctors, specialists, school, meds, etc.

Try not to worry too much about your other kids. They are often able to handle much more than we ever give them credit for. Also, when they are exposed to issues with their family members, it broadens their abilities as they grow up.

Take care, I'll talk again tomorrow!

Guess what? I'm going on a cruise in November and wondered whether my formal dresses would still work, so I decided to try them on this morning, well they fit just fine, so I decided to try on another work dress from 13 years ago. And it fit, so I tried ten more and I'm very close to getting into all of them again. It's funny, but I've lost weight differently this time. (It's happened in the past too.) When I was last in the mid-high 170's in 2004, these clothes were still too tight, but this time they are going to work.

They are very nice dresses, but most have shoulder pads, which probably aren't in fashion now, but I've never let that dictate. I'm going to wear them. I shouldn't have to buy any clothes until I reach my goal, assuming I make that. DH is thrilled too, less money to be spent!

Brandy, of course, you'll make it. You could take out the shoulder pads. I've done that on a few of my clothes and it looks fine. You and I and probably a lot others have the same weight goal in mind. It seems far away but it isn't that far. I just keep reminding myself how I felt prior to surgery and just keep plugging away. I have made a lot more progress in the past 2 months than I have in years.

Anna: How wonderful that you REALIZED what you were doing. Before this band wouldn't you have rationalized it? I'm sorry you have a difficult situation with your son - and glad you had a friend you could reach out to!

Ribearty: I hope your nephew is improving.

My closest friends daughter is improving a bit - any prayer warriors out there? Sydney Thweatt - Letter from James and Lynette, September 4, 2007 Sydney can always use a few more prayers. Thanks, CC

Hi Everyone!!

I had my first fill of 2cc's a few weeks ago but I have'nt felt any restriction. I know that I need another fill, but my doctor is overseas until Oct 4th.(he has no covering doctor) He told me to just diet and excercise until he gets back, but I am slowly gaining weight. Afraid that I will gain back my 20 lbs before he returns.

I found a fill doctor in my area who will fill me. Do you think that my doctor will mind if I get filled by someone else while he is away?

Thanks for any replys:)

Wow!! Its so quiet around here lately. Where is everyone??

I'm getting ready to leave for my FILL appoinment!! I am a little apprehensive, but so curious as to how I will feel afterwards, and how my body responds to food! This will be a new experience.

Tomorrow I am hoping to go talk to a travel agent about our cruise next summer. I've only heard from a few. Wish Dini would chime in again with her count. I agree with what Indiogirl said about the heat and humidity in Mexico at that time of year. We've gone on an Alaska cruise twice...in the May/June time frame, and we'd go again in a heartbeat. The first one there were some days when it was a little drizzly, but the second one we had an absolutely gorgeous week and people were in the pools every day. How do others feel about Alaska?? I know there are quite a few that leave out of Seattle now. In the past you had to leave out of Vacouver BC. We flew to Seattle and had to take a charter bus to Vancouver. It was miserable!

Hope everyone is having a great day!! I will report back on my big adventure of the day this evening when we get home.

Marcy - That's so romantic!!!!!

Ribearty - Praying for your nephew

Phyl - It's 2:35, I'm having detention right now. My fills at 5:15.

I hope it works!! I haven't lost anything in at least a week.

Just maintaining.

Hey if we go on a cruise to Alaska, can we please stop at Marcy's so she can teach us to slaughter? And if my hubby goes maybe Marcy's husband can give him a talking to.

Jainee - can you call your doctor's office and ask them if they mind if you are filled elsewhere this time?

Denise - I appreciate your comments! No, no more slaughtering for me...not for a while anyway. (Although it's good excersize!)

There are some cruises that come to Nome, but they come from Europe - up and over if you know what I mean. If you're thinking about an Alaskan cruise, they normally just go Southeast to Haines or Anchorage...then you can take the train "in-land" to see Denali. I think Southeast (Ketchikan, Sitka, glaciers and the like) is all beautiful and would be a good trip.

CC - I checked out your friends' website and I haven't stopped bawling in 20 minutes! I am so grateful for my healthy children! Thank you for sharing!

So I ordered Chinese because I was not feeling like cooking. I just ate a few bits and within like 2 minutes knew it wasn't going down. I puked it up. Yikes! So I am wondering - maybe I ate those bites too fast as I was real hungry - should I try and eat some more, it's still hot...

Or do I not try. Not sure if it was because I ate fast maybe without not knowing it.

Advice from anyone online???

Thanks.

Alaska would be great for me. I've been wanting to go forever. DD isn't that interested yet so this would be a good excuse for Mom to go!
