I've heard some complaints about dry mouth and bring thirsty. I was given a scolpamine patch behind my ear before surgery to ward off nausea....as soon as I took it off, things were DRAMATICALLY improved!

Took off my tape today. My incisions are a little sore so I put a steri-strip accross them so they didn't pull...much better.

I am currently eating a Pringle potato chip...I know, bad, but it tastes good, even pulverized! I've been able to eat pretty much anything...not bad for 10 days out! I have not tried bread or Peanut Butter (which I hear and the toughies). I've also not had soda, which, surprisingly, hasn't been that bad! I feel ok, but had some sharp pain the other day that was remedied by ice and rest....let's just say chasing chickens was NOT a good idea!

Funny, I usually like Protein Shakes, but can't seem to even MAKE one for myself this week! I think it's psychological...I tired of hearing about Protein shakes! AAAHHHH!! Oh, I got Eat Smart Protein Powder from GNC..it was expensive and tastes nasty in broth/soup...but tastes fine in everything else.

Cherea - I've been thinking about you and sending you good vibes for your upcoming surgery! It seems so close now!

I'ts funny really we were not told about any Protein Drinks at all we were just told to take a Vitamin A day. That is also encouraging to know that you can eat almost anything at ten days I managed some jacket potatoe and cottage cheese today (mushed up ) but it tasted brill.

Christy, you just weren't meant to eat chicken, unless it out of a can!!

I feel you pain, as I was there 3 days ago, but I'm glad you are better. Wished mine had ended that quickly, but it is so scary when you're in the midst of it.

Lainy, lad you are feeling better. I've heard stories about the bad breath syndrom. I think it gets better though. Get some of those pocket strips, you can pop them in whenever you're getting ready to head out the door into public. Hopefully it is just something that will pass too.

Snaggletooth, great to hear from you. Down 20 lbs, that's awesome.

You're doing great!!

Cazulay, hang in there, it's probably just the hunger or nerves talking.

It gets better, and you'll see after surgery, that it will all be worth it!!

NewCC and iluvmyboys, welcome to the lucky 7's.

PrincessWillow, welcome back. You must have stopped in before because we have you on our calendar for July 10. Hope you are doing well.

Marcy, how you doing?? A pringle?? OH that sounds so salty and good right now. But I think I had enough salt today already. Took my son to a pizza playland, and I couldn't have anything but the cheese off the pizza with a little sauce. Wow, I've not wanted Water to drink while eating yet, but I was ready to down 20 ozs after the salty taste of the cheese.

Lynette,

Yeah you would think I would have learned my lesson by now, but I think I am going to mark chicken off of my list of things to do, It will have to be boca chicken patties from here on out.

Sucks too, because my favorite food is chicken:(

You can edit your posts, but when you hit on the edit key, you'll get a screen with everything you typed out, but a smiley face will be inbetween each letter. Makes it hard to change anything you need to.

Oh right I'm rubbish with all the editing of the threads as you can see no diet ticker or pretty pictures, I have been on the tracker site but just cant seem to get it on screen.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
