Steph - That's what I wonder. Is it just the age I'm at? Is it because our world is bigger? So many people dying, it's scarey. I'm scared that I become obsessed with praying or something will happen.

Here are a couple more ideas...but they are white not yellow. Epiphany is platinum over stearling....

Epiphany Platinum Clad Diamonique Love Knot Stud Earrings - QVC.com

Epiphany Platinum Clad Diamonique 100-Facet Stud Earrings - QVC.com

Epiphany Platinum Clad Diamonique 1 ct tw Stud Earrings - QVC.com

I hope you can find something wonderful. And even though you buy two, if you lose one, you'll have a spare.

Thanks, Steph! I looked at all of those and started a QVC wish list so I can let Earl look at the ones I like. They're alot less $$ than others I've been looking at! I just might go for that. He wants me to go to a jeweler and have one made! He doesn't know what kind of money he's talking about! Pair I liked at the exchange yesterday was around $350, I think. EBay guy emailed me and said he sells singles, so I might look at some of his, too.

Thanks Steph... I have not had an appeitite period - today when DS & DIL got back they brought lasagan home - I had 2 bite cuz I haven't been eating except once a day if that - but 2 bites is all I can manage... When everything calms down then watch out - I know that when my Parents died it took about 3 months and then it all sunk in and then that was when the food feast started and I got up to 230 at the time..

Oh guess what gang - I have a new addition to my fur babies - a kitten...

GS came home with her like Tuesday nite - I was in no condition to say no.. Now I am going to have to have it declawed!!!! Cute little thing I do like cats - but that's all I need is another animal !!

So far this new fur baby sleeps with him - ask me in 6 months though who she is sleeping with - Sarabe (sp from the lion king) I call her sheba...

Gosh it's nice to have you back!! It's going to take some time for you to get back in the groove! New kitten!! That's surprising. You know I'm a cat person! Although there are days when I'd like to toss that mean cat of ours out the door! She's been good lately but she is miserable because it's too hot for her. Earl tried to get her to sit out on the patio in the shade with us yesterday but she was just freaking out and wanted to go back inside. He bought her a little fan that is just for her and she doesn't like that either!!

Uh oh. I'm not a QVC girl but I do love to shop around online. Now I have yet another site to waste my time on.

Okay, so enough kidding around with this weight loss thing. I am going to start back again today. Now! I'm sure I've just been waiting around for Janet to come back and give me one of her "mom" speeches. No more excuses.

I've had my usual coffee so far this morning and a Starbucks Frappuccino drink 9.5 oz with 180cals. Not a good choice so far.

Oh Ruby Girl, what are we going to do, You and I seem to be on the same slippery slope when it comes to staying on track with this weight loss thing. I too have been horrible with my food choices of late.

Janet got me bac k on track and going to the gym, I lost a bit of weight, and now I've put it back on...:rolleyes2:

I wake up in the morning with the best of intentions, today I was so tight (after last nights pig out) that i couldn't get a shake down. Then I went out for lunch with an old friend (she didn't know I'd had W/L surg) and she thought I looked GREAT!!! Ha,ha... Now I ordered a Steak Sandwich w/salad. I ate the meat out of it and 1/4 of the garlic bread bun, 2 mouthfulls of salad... and I was stuffed.

Then on the way home, I stopped and bought my old stand by the dreaded little round things with peanuts in them and initials stamped on the outside. No dinner for me.

Ruby, you are doing really well on the exercise... perhaps you and I should talk mono -a-mono???

Janet, so happy to see you back. I am so sorry about your brother. You have been in my thoughts and prayers.

My thoughts and prayers have been about death so much lately. Janet's brother was first. The same day my cousin's, husband died. This cousin is my Mom's oldest sister's daughter. My Mom has been really close to her since she took care of her Mom while she was aging. Yesterday, a co-worker and also a friend committed suicide. I have been friends with her and her husband for several years. She worked at another school. Her husband works with me. It was horrible. I'm sure it will be horrible for a long time.

Denise: I am so sorry for your losses. I am sending your extra BIG HUGS!!! I know there is nothing I can say to ease your sorrow, but I am thinking about you.

Janet: I am glad you are posting again. To say that you have been missed would be the understatement of the year :blushing:

A new kitty huh? When one door closes another door opens, maybe this extra fur bundle will be just the thing to take your mind off things, even if its only momentarily... Fur creatures have a way of knowing when you're needing some extra luvin.

I am sending you BIG HUGS too... if you ever want a complete change of scenery to clear your head you know you are always welcome in my home!!:rolleyes2:

Phyl - I grew up with my own cat Puggie Nose.. Angel is the one who dosen't really like the kitten so far - but they will become friends..

Yep - now is the time that all this is going to sink in - but it does feel good to be back at work - well sort of... I know that time will heal my heart.

Candice - Am I going to have to come up there and kick your butt !!!! :w00t: Maybe this summer when it's hot here I will take you up on that offer - I will be the executor of my Bro's estate - so I don't know what all that's will entail - but I have a good lawyer and accountant who will assist me on all this..

Well, just wanted to stop in and say hi.... I gotta tell you that stress does make my band tight... I am really going to have to force my self to eat - I'm down this morning to 139.. It's just the thought of food wants to make me throw up..

CBL :)

Hi there ladies. Had a decent day if you don't count food. I got two walks in with Chi Rho. Neither was super fast but he went further than I thought he would have. Total walk of about 1 1/2 hours. Then when I got home there was a message that they are ready to lay the new carpet I ordered a couple weeks ago so tonight Jeff and I moved all the furniture out of the two rooms and tore out the old carpet. It was definitely a semi strenuous workout.

I've been really busy with this facilitator job the last week. I think it will be an alright job but I've got my work cut out for me. I've been on the computer most of the rest of the day so I'm going to call it a night.

I'll check in with you all tomorrow ladies. Have a great night.

good afternoon, everyone!

internet access slightly improved but have to use DH laptop.

Sitting outside on the patio w/very good reception here.

Saw the article about Fergie in this morning's paper.

Have fun, Janet!

Hope I take it easy on the liquid calories today, too, as the neighbors invited us over for "Happy Hour" and I think they're fixing margaritas!

Maybe I'll bring a bottle of wine... fewer calories, I think.

Figured out today that I'd shorted myself on one exercise session, so I updated my signature. slight weight gain this week, though.... we won't talk about that. I'm doing my usual... 3 1/2 lb loss X2, then a little gain. next week I'll be back down again.

It was very nice to get a new military ID this week with a little better picture and the weight changed!

Wish you could see this!

We hung a hummingbird feeder high in a palm tree at the front of our RV site. I'm watching this big, fat green hummingbird I've just named "Bully" guarding that thing like it was Fort Knox! He's sitting just a little above it and around to the opposite side. Every time another hummingbird tries to come and drink from the feeder, he dives down and chases them away! One got smart and brought a couple of friends. while he was chasing two of them off, the third one was able to get a drink! He's being a real SNOT!

It's pretty fascinating, actually!

How do I tell him, we've got plenty of stuff to refill it??

Awe Phyl it's Friday - enjoy 1 margarita - then switch to wine ;)

Yep that's how your body does it - down up then down again or down and nothing for a while - but look you have lost like 90 lbs which is nothing to sneeze at... You are doing excellent especially with all your traveling etc. Heck it was almost 1 whole yr before I traveled after being banded.

Wish you could see this!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

Good Luck this procedure is well worth it I am down to 249.6 lb please continue with the process..

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
