Thank you very much..... it is a relief to know that this will go....

I did the surgery here in Damascus, Syria..... the surgeon is a friend of my husband... things are not as complicated as it is in the States, and we don't have insurance here... so you have to pay for it, but it costs only 2500$. I left the same day..that was my condition, I wanted to stay the night home with next to my kids...

I can't tell all of you how happy I am to have you as part of my life, I do need to talk to people who are going through the same experience.

As I mentioned earlier, I was always agains this, but I just took the descision in several days, and went through and did it... I do hope I don't regret it...

I can't stay overweight any more, I am 119 kg.s this is around 262 pounds.. I am still under 40, I have a fabiouls family medical history filled with diabetese, heart problem, blood pressure and recently my Mom had breast cancer two months ago and now she is going though chemo...

My husband wasn't in favor, but he told me that if I feel that I have really given up on diets, then this is a solution, and made it clear that I have to make my own decision.... of course my father wasn't in favor, my Mom was with, so I went on and did it. Non of my friends knew...

And here I am, I did it last Sat, it was the 21st... I didn't feel any pain except of that awful pain in my neck :whoo::angry that affects my shoulders... otherwise I can admit that I am fine.

I am an IT person, I can't seem to be able to sit behind the computer and do a lot for now, but hey.... I do deserve to rest so what the hec...

I am glad to be part of you... I didn't lose any the first week... I think may be I am not taking the right liquids...

Pls. advise me of what to do....:help:

Maria

I got to mushy on thrusday and have done great = I eat slowly (maybe not as slow as i should- but slow compared to how is use to eat)

It's 12:30 and I had 1/2 cup eatbeaters w/cheese around 9 this morning and I am still full..

For those of you who like grape koolaide - my dr office has this grape raisin Protein Drink 15 grms for 70 calories that taste GREAT.. I gooled it but can't find a website (Lite Life) that really matches where you can order - and just went to get the packaging and just says distrubed by bobby basker-rao.. They also have lemonaide & orange - all of whick i like..

Hi IndioGirl55,

Try the medifast website, they have all those flavors and they taste great as well.

hi all, I am no support for anyone else. I am still feeling lousy. The gas pains are better, I live on gas x but I have lost 11 lbs. since last Tues and I feel that is too much. I also get sick to my stomach at the smell of food cooking.

Has anyone else lost this much in 6 days post op and are you sick at the smell of foods. I am going to see my doctor tomorrow first thing.

I wish I could say I am happy about this surgery, but right now I think it's getting the better of me.

Hey everyone, I have a question. I had my surgery on the 19th and I went in for my post op apt on the 26th and when they weighed me I had lost 7 pounds. For some reason i thought being on liquids i would have lost a lot more then that? Anyone else feel this way? My mom told me i was swollen from surgery and all the liquid they pump into you and of course from sodium in the broth and stuff. I was a little dissapointed i guess. LoL

I know what you mean. I went into the hospital at 251 the morning of surgery and when I came home the next afternoon I weighed 264 again. UUUGGHHHHH!!! When I asked the nurse how much I weighed and she told me I freaked out. She told me it is because of all the IV fluids and then I had to stop taking my diuretic. I have lost all but 3 of the lbs now but I am sure it is the sodium in the broth and the liquids yet because I haven't started the diuretic again. I have my first post op tomorrow also. Wish me luck.

Well we are off to the stock car races tonight. I don't like them myself because they scare the holy crap out of me. LOL. My family likes them so I am going for them. I set on pins and needles the whole time thinking a car is going to come over the side and roll on us!!!

Sunny I am glad to hear you did so well also. That is great!!!! If you made it this far with minimal discomfort I think we will be ok now. :clap2:

Maria I hope your discomfort starts to get better. Just keep reminding yourself about the prize at the end!!!

Hello Everyone!!!!

sorry to be MIA but this quarter in school is really kicking my behind, but it will be well worth it when have can put that RN behind my name.

I hope everyone is doin well, and congrats to all the new bandsters, sorry I have sent you any well wishes before now.

Lynette,- I made a 98 on my cardiact test, was very happy, but I love cardiac. Hey sister, we will be 1 month post op tommorow!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!. How has your diet been going, I have been doing incredibly well, It is almost as if I have to force myself to eat. Physically I can eat, but I don't get the pleasure out of it like I used to. I have done a complete 360 on my eating. It is so weird, I just don't get hungry, that is until I start eating, and then that is when the will power kicks in. I can't wait for my first fill but I have 2 more weeks to go. Good luck with your fill on tuesday and update me on how it goes.

Dini - Happy "belated birthday" you are so young and beautiful, I was in your shoes when I was 24 and had to do a lot of soul searching, you will make the right decisions and be happy. Good luck to you girl.

Jeannie - Glad to see you are doing so well, I miss talking to you and everyone else, I will have to get on here more often.

Chim - hey girl, glad to see you are doing well keep up the good work

Phyll - How are you doing?

Sunny - Glad to see you are doing well, don't over do it!!! Keep up the good work

Kathy - Hope all is well with you and your family.

Hi Larrend!!!!

Eileen- welcome to this group, I know exactly how you are feeling, the first 2.5 weeks, I was soooooooooo depressed, but it passed and this group is soo supportive and will help you get through it. I am single as well and I had a very strong emotional relationship with food, noone can prepare you for what that will do to you after surgery. I was very depressed and cryed more than a few times. I did some soul searching and have been working on my relationship with food, and trying to find the reason why I am so attached to it, and I must say that I am getting better. I know I will always struggle with it, but with prayer and faith we can get through it. But come here when you need to be uplifted, all the women and men here are wonderful.

To anyone else that I have missed, I am sorry, I am going to try to go back and finish reading, but I have a lot to catch up on.

I was banded on the 23 and have had virtually no pain. I have quite a bit of gas yet from surgery and find that that and the bloating is very uncomfortable!

I gained 8# back when I was in the hospital but it is slowly coming off again. I can't wait until I am on the negative side again.

If anyone has the answer to how to get rid of gas - PLEASE let me know!

Jeanie, that was awesome. I made it through the game. They were good seats. A couple of foul balls came close so I was worried about someone landing on top of me for a ball. We wound up winning which made it even better.

As far as swimming, I would be very careful. Unless it was my own pool I wouldn't even think about getting in one before a month. I think that is just aksing for an infection. Most body piercers want you to wait a month before getting piercings wet and surgery is a lot deeper than a piercing. Just my opinion.

Hi everyone,

Just checking in again. Today has been a better day for me. I'm not so sore anymore. I spent 30 mins on the treadmill yesterday and today. While I didn't feel any immediate results, I think it's helped me to get rid of a lot of the extra Fluid I gained through the IV during my hospital stay. I gained 5lbs in total but have lost that in the past couple of days. I could feel the extra fluid in my legs, but they're not so tight any more, probably thanks to the exercise. I don't have a lot of gas pain, but I'm finding it difficult to keep up with the fluid intake. After a couple of sips of Soup I'm put off it, even though the initial taste is wonderful. I'm not hungry at all, but I do miss the social aspect of eating. My hubby and son were invited to a barbecue by the neighbours the other night to help us all out. They got fed and I got some extra quiet time. Although it was very much appreciated, I missed hanging out and laughing and joking around. Everything you do at such a social event.

I've got to try and get more liquids into me I think. I don't know if anyone else is having the same effect as me where something tastes and smells good to begin with, then can't stomach it after a few mouthfuls. :rolleyes Been through chicken and beef broth, tried 3 different flavours of Jello. Tomorrow I'll be able to do Protein Drinks so I'm hoping I'm able to find something that agrees with my palate and sense of smell. I would never have thought it would be a struggle to make my way through half a cup of food! I definitely have no cause to complain about that. Just wish everything wasn't so awful right now. :phanvan

Thanks to all for the well wishes and support. It's good to be back in the land of the living. I'm improving each day and it won't be long before I'm back to my old self. Hmmmm, that's not right, I don't ever intend to be my old self again. Bring on the NEW ME!!!

I don't think I have lost much, but am not planning on weighting until I go for my 2 week post-op appoitment. I have been feeling sick at the smell of certain foods, such as fresh bread. This makes me happy, actually, because this way I am not tempted! :rolleyes

Good luck at the dr.'s tomorrow!

I tried to catch up as much as possible, I'm sure I missed a few. I am still (36 hours banded) feeling nauseated. bad dry heaves at night. I am still in the 'why did I do this to myself stage" I started a migrain today on top of it. Opened my capsules and dumped them in sugar free Jello - yuck.

DH, who wouldn't even talk about it the night before became wonderful yesterday and tonight.

I have to go to bed. Thanks for the support, prayers for those going tomorrow. CC

NewCC, I hope you are feeling better. I am just now catching up on posts from the last few days and I read yours. I was thinking that you sound pretty sick for already 36 hours out. My friend was banded in December and had similar symptoms as you and ended up at the ER. She was diagnosed with Vertigo. They treated her and she felt much better pretty quickly. Just thought I would let you know that in case it might be what you are suffering from. Either way, I hope you are feeling much better now or very soon!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
