Yeah, Laurend, I have had a few people do that already too! I don't like it much and have told them that I am following my doctor's orders. It seems to refocus them! I don't know why people always think you need their two cents! We didn't ask for it!!! I know most people mean well, but I don't tell them what to eat or how to eat it! I am a big girl and I really think I can handle it on my own. Besides, when someone tells me what to do, I tend to the exact opposite!!!! I do have a stubborn streak!
I'll have to that to my dad the next time he opens his mouth, the "I don't tell you what to eat or how to eat" part, anyway.

Laurend, So I don't forget ... 253 for me this week! I doubt I will go any further by tomorrow, lol!faint.gif

Gotcha! I'll get that updated tomorrow!
Laurend, hope you have a great vacation. If your doing the spread sheet tonight, put me down for 215, I'm down 17 lbs.Yeah.

Glad to hear your post-op appointment went well. Where abouts are you in KY?

I'll put that down for your update! I forgot to email myself the spreadsheet before I came back up to Kentucky, so it's still on my parents' computer, but I'll update it when I get back tomorrow.

I live in Richmond, which is about 20 minutes south of Lexington on I-75.

Laurend, you are a traveling girl...happy.gif Went for preop and had gained 4 pounds. I think it is the last supper mentality. So put me down for 284...

Have a great vacation!!!

Thanks! I'll update your entry tomorrow!

Laurend, Aren't you the busy little bee???? Goodness! You are certainly on the go, but it's great b/c you're up to it. I had to crack up about your dad. People just don't know what to do w/themselves sometimes. You may have to just tell him you've got it under control. Like Jeanie said, you're following docs orders.

I try to tell myself that he's just trying to look out for me, but it's hard. My parents took it upon themselves to inform every single person they know that I had surgery. Even the hairdresser knows, for Pete's sake. Everyone asks me how I'm doing, how much I've lost, and most irritatingly, asks me "Are you supposed to be eating that?". I'm about to scream.

You know what's making this day absolutely perfect? When I got back up here to my apartment, I found out that my air conditioning is apparently on the fritz. The auto setting for the fan won't work. I can get it to come on initially when I turn the air on, but once it shuts itself off, it won't come back on. I had set the temperature at 78 when I left several weeks ago, but when I got back today, it was about 87 degrees in my apartment. I don't have time to have my landlord come look at it, so I am just going to have to leave the fan going full-time while I'm here and turn off the unit entirely while I'm gone.

Well day two is nearing the end. Taking a shower today was an experience in itself and whew did it make me tired!

Chimboree26~ I am doing alright, just sore and tired. Been up and down my stairs once today which I was told would be horrible, but it wasn't too bad, just went slowly. Everything isn't nearly as bad as I antisipated which is a big relief.

I am glad to be back on here so quickly!

MsPris~I am so sorry to hear about the problems that occured during your surgery. I must agree that everything does happen for a reason even though sometimes we don't know what is. Good luck to you and keep your spirits up.

dmtjet~ your nephew is gorgeous. Congrats again!

Well I am off to bed, might try sleeping in bed tonight. I'll let ya'll know how it went in the morning. Good luck to all Fridays bandsters.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
