Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Something has occurred to me, that I'm not sure is normal or not... I have heard everyone say that you have to 'sip' constantly, that you can't take regular drinks... I can drink just fine. Just the way I did before, with no problems... I figured this was just because I haven't had a fill yet... is that right?

And you guys are talking about being full after drinking too much. I haven't felt full at all... but I haven't felt hungry either.

Is this normal? Or should I be feeling more restriction with just the band alone?

Yes, I found them. I only voted on the spouse one. I really don't care where we go. I've never been on a cruise so any where will be fine. I do have a passport and would love the chance to use it. At this point I would be happy to just get out of town! I've been working on this computer for days trying to get caught up on the books for my plumbing company. Never put off what you can do today. Tommorow may not come and if it does the pile of *&^% will just be higher!

Hope everybody has a great day.

Good morning Christy, are you at work again? Hows the shoulder pain this morning? Still there? Hope its getting better for you!

Hi Lynette!!

No shoulder pain but I do get back pain from time to time, and not to sound gross but this morning I was very constipated(that is a first since surgery) so maybe it is connected to the back pain. No I only work one day per week right now since being in school, so I only work on Saturday nights.

Good luck with your Doc appt. Can I ask what questions you are asking, I don't have quite that many to ask yet, but I go for my 2nd follow up next Monday. If your questions are private I would definately understand.

I have come to a realization ( and really it is a no-brainer) I have been pureeing alot of my food since over the weekend I had some soft food get stuck, and I have noticed that I eat a lot more with pureed foods, so today I am sticking with just the soft foods (eggs, chicken salad, fish, etc) I just have to learn to chew better, it is all a learning experience. But I am much more satisified on soft food and I eat a lot less of it. Another good thing is I eat more Protein with soft foods, because I had pureed chicken and rice and spaghetti and was able to eat just as much now as before surgery, it just passes right through the band.

So today I had my Protein Shake (used double scoop, much more satisfying) because I like to drink it before the gym, and for lunch I will have chicken salad that I made this morning, and maybe some fish for dinner(hint to make your fish extra soft use lemon juice, another wonderful discovery)

sorry for rambling I just love sharing on this site, you guys are the greatest!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh and Lynette, the chicken salad is soooooooooooo delicious, thanks!!!!!!

Hey heres another idea!!!!!!!, how about starting a spreadsheet or something for new recipe ideas? We can all share with each other different things we are eating, I could collect them and put them on a word document and then we could post it like the spreadsheets.

What does everyone think about this?

Sure would help me out since I don't normally cook, funny I cook more now than I ever did before the surgery, guess that tells how much McDonalds I used to consume....hahahaha..

Everyone let me know what you think about this idea

Good luck to everyone being banded today (sorry this is late)

Hi Everyone,

my mother just sent me this email and I thought I would share it with everyone here:

Cancer update -- Johns Hopkins -- Cancer News from Johns Hopkins :

>

> 1. No plastic containers in micro.

> 2. No Water bottles in freezer.

> 3. No plastic wrap in microwave.

>

> Johns Hopkins has recently sent this out in its newsletters. This

> information is being circulated at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as

> well.

>

> Dioxin chemicals cause cancer, especially breast cancer. Dioxins are

> highly poisonous to the cells of our bodies. Don't freeze your

plastic

> bottles with water in them as this releases dioxins from the plastic.

>

> Recently, Dr. Edward Fujimoto, Wellness Program Manager at Castle

> Hospital, was on a TV program to explain this health hazard. He

talked

> about dioxins and how bad they are for us.

>

> He said that we should not be heating our food in the microwave using

> plastic containers. This especially applies to foods that contain

fat.

> He said that the combination of fat, high heat, and plastics releases

> dioxin into the food and ultimately into the cells of the body.

>

> Instead, he recommends using glass, such as Corning Ware, Pyrex or

> ceramic containers for heating food. You get the same results, only

> without the dioxin. So such things as TV dinners, instant ramen and

> Soups, etc., should be removed from the container and heated in

> something else.

>

> Paper isn't bad but you don't know what is in the paper. It's just

> safer to use tempered glass, Corning Ware, etc.

>

> He reminded us that a while ago some of the fast food restaurants

> moved away from the foam containers to paper. The dioxin problem is

> one of the reasons.

>

> Also, he pointed out that plastic wrap, such as Saran, is just as

> dangerous when placed over foods to be cooked in the microwave. As

the

> food is nuked, the high heat causes poisonous toxins to actually melt

> out of the plastic wrap and drip into the food.

>

> Cover food with a paper towel instead.

> This is an article that should be sent to anyone important in your

Sorry about those pictures. I don't know how to fix it. They show up on my computer okay. may have something to do with connection speed??

Anyway, I love that sample packet. I tried a couple of the Protein drinks.. the Cookies & cream was good, then I took that can of Worldwide chocolate frost or something on the Canada trip & used it for Breakfast one morning. It was good, too. I love the book, too.. lots of recipes.< /p>

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
