Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Rain, sounds like you are quite the busy lady!!!! It has to be so much fun to be with the kids like that! I stayed home when my girls were little and though frustrating and tiring at times, I am soooooo glad I did that! I wanted to be the one to make the impressions on them while they were young and before they had the ability to decipher it themselves. Those were the best years of my life!!!! No regrets on that one! Now, I will be paying for it with my waiting to retire, but it is a small price to pay for such a huge blessing!

Wasn't the "dry mouth" after surgery the worst?????? I minded that worse than anything else!!! Doc said they have to dry you out so that they can put the tube down your throat, but man took 2 days to get that out of my system!!!! YIKES! Didn't enjoy that!

Good lucky, Lainy and all others being banded tomorrow!!!! It will be over soon!

Rainer, I was banded on Monday, July 9th. Get lots of "pinges" in my chest and shoulder when I eat! Do you get that???? Kind of annoying!!!!

crazulay I am also on preop diet day 3. I feel nauseous sometimes and get bursts of hunger. What is your surgery date? I saw someone said they went to the grocery store. I send my dh. Yesterday I did attend a movie theater and stayed on track. I find myself getting headaches some. Has anyone experienced this?

Also to those who have been banded? Could you please reply as to what side of your body your port was placed? Thank you.

Dieka, So glad they got you all fixed up. I had my surgery on the 12th also and I was really apprehensive when I went for my swallow test. But I was luckier than you cause mine was fine. I do know what you mean about that chicken broth tasting so good. Who would have thought that. Hang in there and we can be band buddies now. Good Luck

I had to go to the store, Dh is out of town! But, it was a blessing in disguise, it was horrible while I was there but afterwards I felt triumphant for not giving in :whoo:

Yes, I have been having headaches, and when I do I lay down and take a nap, if I am at home. Actually I have been confining myself to the house as much as possible to avoid temptation. I guess after the fill I won't be hungry/able to eat so it will be OK to go out again. I am scheduled for July 27th, and I know I will be on Clear Liquids only for 2 weeks after that. I will have 2 weeks off, I don't think anybody would appreciate being near me during that time lol....

So far so good! Banded Tues. July 10th. I have lost 14lbs. in 1 1/2 weeks...counting my pre op diet (4 days prior to surgery). I am so excited that I finally made this decision. It was really only painful on the first day after surgery, a little nausea (after taking the nausea med. and suppository it went away) and lots of soreness. Everyday has been much better and I stopped using the pain medication as of Sat. 5 days post op. I really think walking has helped heal and relieve the gas. I walk 20 min. 4x per day. I am following a 3 mo. liquid diet. It is a new program (voluntary) that my doctor is trying. It puts you in Ketosis (like Atkins) so you have an accelerated weight loss. I get 4 Protein Shakes per day and some sugar free jello/pops etc. I have good energy and have just started wanting food and realizing it will be a while before I try it. Good luck to all July banders.

Started 242 Lbs

weight now 228 Lbs.

Goal 150 Lbs.

Hello everyone,

How are all my fellow bandies? and future bandies? I have a off the wall question for you all.

Do any of you have a Lap Band Doctor you don't like? I havent herd to many people who complain that they dont like there Doctors, but sadly, I cant stand mine. He's arrogant, over confidant, clynical, and has a very take it or leave it attitude.

don't get me wrong, I saw this on my very first visit, He actualy refered to his larger patients as "500 pounders" when I said that I was surprised he was recomending LB for me cause I realy thought I eas too big for LB surgery, he dose both LB and RNY. but I foolishly convinced myself that it was OK because I wanted a compitant doctor regardless of his personality. BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART! He also refered to one of his patients as a "bone head" for eating hotdogs and having problems with vomiting, this was when I asked about my fears of vomiting with the LB.

Every time I go to his office I leave there more mad more Pissed off. I dont as a general rule choose doctors fo my self I dont feel respect me as an informed patient and most importantly wont talk to me as the INDIVIDUAL THAT I AM!

I hate feeling that I'm just another abdomin to this guy, I should have NEVER let him do my surgery!

now I'm stuck with him for the next year for fills and any other issues that may come up with my band. :cry

Am I just being a big baby?

I'm afraid if I tell him how I realy feel, He wont honor the fills I PAID for for 1 year!

HELP....How do I cope with this A** for another YEAR!

Kathybad, How nice!!!! Are you adopting locally or from overseas? Adoption is very special, I know several people that have done that and it is such a blessing for everyone concerned!!! Is your son excited? I bet he can't wait! Do you get to bring her home soon?

We're adopting locally. She moved in in March 2006, so has been with us for awhile. She was on foster care for awhile until the court stuff was finished with her birth parents. Now we are just awaiting the final court date to make the adoption final. That should be in Sept.

My son absolutely adores her. We were very concerned on how he would respond because he is a bit mentally challenged and doesn't like change. However, he completely surprised everyone. He is so protective of her and affectionate, caring and .... bossy just like a big brother should be.

She has completely bonded to us, so that there is no question that she's part of our family.

The funny thing is she looks so much like me, that people would never know I'm not her biological mother.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
