Lucky # Sevens- July 07 Bandsters

Recommended Posts

Hi, Cherea,

Glad to hear you are doing so well. I am so excited for next week to come! I just went out to Albertson's & got a pack of RubberMaid 4 oz containers with lids. I'm going to make up some broth, etc. ahead of time & have them in the freezer ready to heat up. I also bought 20 small Fat Free Yogurts. I'm getting ready!!

Breadlady is still among the missing. Very strange since she wa posting every day even while she was at the lake. Hope all is well.

Dini hasn't been on since last night, I don't think.

We're leaving in the morning for three days in Canada & I'm really going to miss my new favorite website and all of you!!

:canada:

Phyl, Have a fun safe trip in Canada. I bought some small rubbermaid containers too so I can make some frozen Slimfast and Protein power "ice cream" like Lynette does.

Sure is quiet around here without Dini posting...;)

I was just looking at my ticker and I can't believe it is only 14 days to surgery. Time really does fly when you are having fun with your other Lucky #7s.

CONGRATS to all newbies.

Are you hungry post-op? I am having a strange experience. My doc has no pre-op diet, but makes up for it in a brutal three week post-op diet. This week I'm on Clear Liquids plus Protein Shakes. Thing is I get hungry, I notice. But its not that desperate, gnawing sensation that I would do anything to get rid of. I look at Cookies, but can say no pretty easily to them.

I can't wait to get real flavor - but that's more about boredom.

I am so happy to be free of that horrible compulsion to eat.

MM

mommamiranda, are you putting any unflavored powder into your clear broths, Water, etc? This will help you out.

Phyl, have a great trip up north. We'll miss you around here.

Greetings everyone:

I am so excited. My surgery was to be on Thursday, 7/19, but my doctors office called and asked if I would care to be done on Monday the 16th instead. Of course, I said yes.

Chimboree - please change my date.

Lynette - what is unflavored powder and where do you buy it?

Your son is adorable and your hubby is a hunk.

I can't wait. I am so happy to be entering bandland with all you great Lucky 7's.

I vote for the Mexico cruise - my mom did it last year and had a great time. I like Alaska but its too pricey for me (I blew my cash on the self-pay) and I don't want to be away from my kids (2 and 6) that long.

Mexico sounds good to me, too! The Greek Isles sound better, but I'm with mommiranda - too pricey for me.

I just started getting hungry this evening. I never realized how much I eat out of boredom! Have you tried Jello? I got some of the ready made jello cups and one of those will help me feel full pretty well. Hang in there! ;)

Mexico sounds great to me too.

anywhere sounds great to me. I will have to start saving now. Who was it that was going to save $10 for every pound they lose. What a great idea.:whoo: I will have more than enough for a cruise if I do that :biggrin1:

MsPris, congrats on getting the date moved up. WOW, only 4 more days for you.

You can get unflavored Protein powder just like the vanilla and chocolate, but you use it in your puddings, yogurt, Soups, cottae cheese, anything you want really. I bought the Jay Robbs at a local store but you can find it on line also at Jayrobbs.com. If you google unflavored protein powder, you'll find hundreds of manufactures. I've been told to get the whey isolate powder as it's the purest and something about the way your body absorbs it (or doesn't) but it's supposed to be the best for after surgeries like this according to my Dr.

If you use this in your Snacks and meals, it help you have that full feeling longer.

mommamiranda, does Mexico have the hurrican season like the Carribean?? I've never been there so I don't know.

Sunny, that was Dini that said that about the $10 for every pound. Wonder where she's been today? Maybe she had a day off and is having a nice evening out with Adam. But then it's actually 2:15am her time, so maybe it went well and they're home now!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
