Anybody have some fun rewards in mind (other than great health, of course) for when they reach some milestones? I'm already planning my family vacation to Disneyland for 8 months post-surgery. And when I hit the 100 mark, I'll be getting a little bling-bling to mark the occassion. What do you have planned? :)

7/11/07. How lucky is that? I found out about the band while looking for diets..again....didn't know it existed. I think it was devine intervention and I thank God. I am paying $16,000 (Canadian). I am flying from the west coast to Toronto..in on the 10th , surgery on the 11th and home on the 13th. (Dr Coburn) I figure since I am 58 it is now or never and I am doomed of I don't lose the 80 or so lbs I need to. To heck with the money. Since I received my date I have been totally out of control and stuffing myself. Have gained 5-6 lbs.

Today I said enough is enough. I am going on a hi Protein low /carb plan

until June 27 when I start my 2 week Optifast regime. Then it is clear fluids to full fluids to mushies to solids. I gather each Dr. has their own system.

Up here we have very little preop prep. Physical by family doc and bloodwork plus EKG. If they find a Hiatus hernia they repair it at the same time. I don't see the Dr. post op unless I want and a nurse in my hometown does the fills. I feel prepared but sort of in awe at the same time. I can't believe I will be "normal", dare I say slim?

Good luck fellow Lucky 7's

Neef

Good Morning All,

Actually have the day off. My MIL watches my 3 year old for my DH and I so we can work, but she's been in and out of the hospital this weekend. Finally diagnosed with Pnemonia(sp?). So I have the day off today to let her get some rest.

Chimboree- There you are. I was woried when I hadn't seen you post in a few days. Thanks for the update on the list. I'm waiting for a reply from the lady on the June thread that did the calendar.

Dini- If you go to Lapband FAQ's and References there is a thread there called Sticky- Post Op Checklist. This is where I got my list from. And FYI, I found about everything at Walmart for cheaper than a lot of other places. The only item I never found was liquid gas x. I just went ahead and bought the strips that dissolve on your tounge.

Mike- Glad to see you're still around. I thought maybe we lost you to another thread. I'm sure it's not easy to be here with all these women, but we're all in the same boat and going through all the same emotions.

Cherybomb- I love your question about rewards. Ok, here goes. Once I lose almost all my weight, I plan to get a tattoo acrossed the bottom of back so when I wear my cute LITTLE low rider jeans and my SMALL shirt, you can see it:heh:. Also, I'd love to get my belly button pierced. Yeah, I know. I'll be 35 on Sunday, but I feel I may revert back to 15 after this surgery. Just some fun things I always imagined myself doing if I had ever lost the weight, at a younger age. But I still think I'm going to do it. During the losing stage, I think just being able to reward myself with new clothes every 3 months will be a reward in itself.:clap2:

Good morning everyone,

Wish me luck, today I have my pre surgical physical, Its at the hospital where I will have the surgery.

I'm alittle nervous, as I had a little adventure in the same hospital in February.

It was a trip to the ER with what I thought was a Heart attack, after 2 days of testing including a heart catheter test (All Clear!) I was dishcharged with the diagnosis of "Not a heart attack" but eather a heart spasam or I passed a blood clot through my heart.

I hope this dose not create a problem.

Also I plan to start eating alittle better......only 1 last meal per day LOL ;)

Mike, just curious why you decided to go with the Band instead of the bypass?

Hey there. Well honestly I NEVER considered bypass because everytime I heard of it all I would hear about is all the risks that come with just having that procedure done to your body. I have a handful of people that I personally know including one very close friend that just had it done a year ago. Although she looks amazing I remember seeing her when I gave her a short visit and she looked in pain! She's lost I believe almost 150lbs within a year and although I want a big result for my surgery I'm not looking into dropping so much weight so fast.

I think the band will help me achieve my healthy goals and still eat ya know. Not eat a lot of course but eat the foods I like. The recovery time with the bypass is so much longer that it's another factor of why I didn't even consider it. The band procedure is so less invasive that to me it was my best bet and shot at becoming more healthier VS. just staying obese and at risk for major health problems with unsuccessful diets. The band decision was more of a personal choice. There are many people not afraid of surgery or complications but I am not that kind of person. I'm a worry freak so I know I'd probably never have the guts to have the bypass done. I'm grateful the band procedure is available and affordable for me. What made you go with the band?

;)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
