Avg monthly weight loss?

Recommended Posts

So I was just curious, what was your SW, CW and about how much did you lost monthly?? I've heard that as time goes on you start to lose less. At about what month did you notice a drop in lbs lost monthly and by how much?

I'm just trying to prepare myself for what to expect. I'm 2 mo post op and SW was 344, CW is 313 so about 15.5 lbs per month loss.

SW was 245 at 5'5" & on 9/8/14 my surgery date 231, at my one month check-up 217 & today 10/5 I am 198. At week 3 I had a bit of a stall, something in learned is called hibernation syndrome. Basically your body figures out what's going on & says wait a second.

But I highly suggest not measuring your weight loss by others, just remember the first 6-9 months will be your best.

Congratulations on your success thus far, and working towards being a healthier you.

One time I found this calculator online where you could put in your starting weight, what surgery you were having, height, etc and it would calculate your estimated monthly weight loss. I've tried to find it again and have been unsuccessful. If anyone knows where this is, could you post the link?

I'll look again and if i find it, I'll attach it.

I'm only 6 weeks out so I don't really have enough data to share.

Yeah I've seen some good calculators but I was curious to know real life experiences. For me , knowing stats is as much of a motivator as seeing the before and after pics. Especially when I feel like I'm in a rut.

I try not to compare myself with others and yeah, I wish I lost faster but I'm just extatic the scale is going down, not up!

@@InspirationMySon good job! That's really great :)

Here it is, you plug in your information and it estimates how much you'll lose month over month. So far it was dead on the first month for me.

It's not wanting to let me post the link.

It's at obesityhelp.com and then /morbidobesity/information/post+op+planner.php

Maybe it'll let me post it this way. No idea why I couldn't post that link.

After the big initial loss I was losing about 7 lbs per month

Now at 5 months and it has slowed down to 4 lbs but I don't gain so I see that it is a positive

I imagine I have over a year to go to lose the 58 lbs I still need to lose!

Since surgery on 2nd June I am down 58 lbs so I am half way-I had to lose 17 lbs pre surgery

I'm just trying to prepare myself for what to expect. I'm 2 mo post op and SW was 344, CW is 313 so about 15.5 lbs per month loss.

I weighed 289 at my very last visit to the doctor immediately prior to surgery - so that would have been one week before I had the surgery. Because I couldn't eat two days before the surgery, I lost 4 pounds and weighed 285 on the day of surgery. I lost about 15 pounds the first two weeks, went into a two and a half week stall at the three week mark (totally expected though) and then it's been about 2 pounds per week thereafter. I go to the gym four to five days per week - I lift as heavy as I can two to three days per week and then do cardio on the other two or three days because I have to rest my muscles. Otherwise I would be hitting the weights every single day because I love them so much.

I have always been a slow loser and with this surgery, I can see that will not change. As long as it is steady, I am poised to lose 100 pounds at the one year mark. I need to lose about 140 pounds total to get to my goal weight.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
