Glad to hear all the positive feedback. Good to know everyone is doing well on their journeys.

Ive done all my appts (as far as I know) I guess Im just waiting to hear from Joyce. I'm not sure if I should contact her again or my GP, Im just waiting to hear. (so past ready for this to happen already. I want to be one of you!

I am in Sussex county, little place called Yale ( between Jarratt and Stony Creek)

Hi~

I'm not too far from you. I'm in Prince George County. Use to work in Jarratt at Greensville. WELCOME NEIGHBOR!;)

I know from my own experience, I called Joyce several times and left messages concerning if there was anything else I needed to do. She may become somewhat irrated but guess what...THATS HER JOB. She has to expect that people are anxious, nervous and everything else at this point.

Please keep me posted:ranger:.

Va luvbug. I would go ahead and give Joyce a call. Their office is so busy and a gentle reminer couldn't hurt...just to make sure you are ready for the next step.

Had a good weekend. Gas pains are almost gone. Ja9va, you are right, the more you move around the better. And I have already lost 5 pounds since the surgery!! But I will be so happy when Thursday rolls around and I get to start my creamy stage. I am ok with the Instant Breakfast shakes but i am not big on sweets so that is getting old. ;) But heh, I am going to do whatever the doc tells me to do.

Well I better sign off and get to bed.

:tired Take care everyone

Mary

Hi GracetonHillAng~

I was banded by Dr. Schroeder and I go back for my 2weeks on the 9th also. Coincidence! When I met with him for the first time, he basically went over my paperwork that I hade filled out prior to the appt. Discussed my medical histroy and my reason for choosing the lapband. The weighed me and also gave me the contact information to make an appt. for my nutritionist. If I'm remembering correctly, I went for my psych. eval that same day before seeing him.

Hope this helps...have you attended a seminar?

Hi Everyone

Getting better every day...even went to the grocery store today!! Still have a little port pain, but nothing to get worked up over. And the weight is coming off!!!! Everyday day or two i drop a pound! This is so cool. Haven't been hungry at all but I am looking forward to tomorrows mushies. I honestly don't know how some of you have gone back to work after a couple of days. It's been 6 days and I still have little energy. Started taking liquid Vitamins today((gross)).

Have a great day!

Mary

Angie

Your appointment will be very quick. You will talk to the nurse first and then the doctor. He will go over any health related issues and set you up for any appointments you might need. For me, they scheduled me for a sleep apnea test. The test showed I had moderate sleep apnea so that helped to get me approved. They will also tell you to get your psych evaluation, and a weight history appointment with your PCP. During the appointment they also scheduled me for the nutritional class which is held twice a month...I think. The staff is good and won't let you miss anything. Just try to be proactive with the appointments and get them out of the way as soon as you can so your file can be sent to the insurance company right away.

Good Luck and let us know if you have any other questions.

Mary

Hi Mary~ So glad to hear that you are doing well:whoo:. I went back to work on Monday and sat at my desk and thought of the AWFUL mistake I made by returning soooo soon. I was COMPLETELY drained of energy and wanted to crawl into bed once I got home. :faint:LOL! How are your children adjusting to the "new you"? :) Take care of yourself...and use this time to get some rest.....CONGRATS on the weightloss!

So glad you made the decision to have this done. I have lost over 50 pounds and feel like a new woman. I could probably have lost a lot more by now if I exercised more, but I have been a slug in that area. My advice to you is to start now to train yourself to eat SLOWWW. Everyone kept telling me, and I just didn't listen. Spent the first 3 months in the bathroom. I finally got the hang of it now and I take very small bites and chew like crazy. I have only had two fills so far and don't think I will need another for a while. Let me know if you have any questions. I will be glad to answer any of them.

Take care

Mary

Thanks so much for responding Mary. I really appreciate the advice about getting in the habit of eating very slowly. That is definitely one of my problems...eating fast. So I will begin to practice. I am so ready to do this, and it is wonderful to hear about your 50 pound weight loss. Keep up the great work!

Hey everyone! I teach in Mechanicsville (what a small world) and grew up here. I live near the airport now. I'm being banded on June 17th at St. Mary's by Dr. Elliot. I'm excited, scared...all that :w00t: I have my nutrition class on Monday and my meeting with the nurse practitioner on Tuesday. The pre-op diet starts Tuesday and I'm a little worried about it. Guess I can do anything for 2 weeks though :tt2:

Congrats!!!! Don't sweat the two week thing. I was so pumped about being so close I didn't have any problems with the shakes. In fact, I actually liked them. I put ice cubes in mine and they tasted like a milkshake. Just ask your family to be kind to you during this time and to eat not snack in front of you. That was my only worry, but I sat them down before the surgery and made sure they understood what I was going to do and how their actions could affect me. If that doesn't work, I got a bat I can give you. :w00t: Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

Mary

Hi and welcome, Iiteachurkid! I am also an educator - a reading specialist - in Henrico County. Your date is coming up soon. Good luck with the pre-op diet. I will start mine in July. Maybe I can stick a birthday candle in it, since I will be on that diet on my birthday. No problema, though. My surgery is my present to myself. Good luck again!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
