Hey there im almost at 2 yrs from having my sleeve. I have lost 130 lbs and in the past 2 mos i have put on 8lbs and dont know how. Im so afraid of gaining weight back. I started back on 2 Protein Shakes again but cant seem to lose. Any ideas how to jumpstart again?

I follow the 8 hour eating plan (it's similar to the 5:2 plan) maybe 3-5 days a week. It worked wonders to get rid of my regain... And I have been maintaining easily now!! It's worth a try :)

I am 2 weeks out, and was thrilled to see your post! I really can't wait to get to where you are. When you say "stick to plan" can I ask what a typical day of eating might b for you? Do you still have to obsess about Fluid intake?

Thanks, Leslie

hi! A typical day of eating for me: (this has been typical since 1 year out.... The first year was wayyyyyyy different)

Breakfast - an iced vanilla latte (not low fat not sugar free) and 2 sargento cheese sticks (not low fat)

snack : handful of cashews

Lunch: a 2% Greek yogurt, and an whole English muffin with Peanut Butter

Snack: 2-3 turkey or beef sticks (from a meat market) and a banana

Dinner: depends.. But often 1-2 slices of pizza and a side salad with regular ranch dressing. If it's a Friday or Saturday I'll have a beer too!

Check out my reply to the other poster! I eat anywhere between 1500-2500 calories a day. :)

fishingnurse,

I saw you wrote now and then you'll have a beer...do you drink carbinated sodas? If so, how does your sleeve tolerate it?

Over time, did if feel like your sleeve expanded?

Congrats on making your goal!!!

Yes I tolerate carbonated drinkes easily, just as before. I drink 2-3 sparkling waters a day, I don't drink soda often but when I do it's totally normal :) I would say my sleeve can hold a lot more than it used to but I still have pretty good restriction.

Id say my modest goal (bmi is 27-28) makes a difference. I'm also fairly young. If I lost 40 more pounds I'm sure I'd run into that problem.

I think everyone has to find the weight that is right for them. When I was heavy, thinking about weighing 165 was so exciting for me (I started at 223 and I am 5'3"). Now that I have been about 139 for 2 years, when I gain a few lbs and go up to 143 I start to feel very heavy, very uncomfortable and fat! So it's been an interesting mind set that.....and the thought of being 160 something would be so weird to me at this point. But again, we all have the weight we feel comfortable at.

@FishingNurse. Yeah, congrats. It looks good on you. You look healthy and happy. I've been at the exact same weight for 3 1/2 weeks. Don't know what the heck is wrong. I heard about stalls, but for this long is so demoralizing. I don't even want to eat anymore. Can you tell me about some of your stalls, if you had any and if you remember them? Thanks.

I stalled for three weeks right after my 2 week follow up appoint. I haven't had one since and I'm almost 16 weeks post op. Not eating is not the answer. I actually increased my food intake and started losing again and ever since. That stall happened Aug 4th until aug 25th-- hovered between 296-295. Today I weighed 254

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
