Blue Shield of California

Does anyone have this insurance through an employer? If so, how did the aurhorization process go? Are they difficult to get approved for surgery by?

I have Blue Shield through CALPERS. My authorization came through in less than 10 days. The whole testing process was only about a month and a half. No pre-op diet was required, just nutrition counseling. I was amazed at how frictionless the process was. Every requirement was for the protection of my health, not because of bureaucracy.

I have CA BLue Shield through my employer. I am in the last 3 days of my 6 month supervised diet. I have completed all of the tests. I am battling BS about one test that my surgeon required and BS does not want to pay for because they say that I did not have pre approval for tests required for Barbaric Surgery. I believe once I am approved they will pay. We submit Wednesday for approval. I will post when/if I am approved

Glad to hear it only takes 10 days for approval. I finished my final requirement today and the daft girl at the desk told me 2-6 weeks even though I had been told 4 days to 2 weeks by the coordinator at the start. I have Blue Shield PPO individual plan.
