October Sleevers?

Congrats to you, Slimmercutie2b!!! I too was astounded when I got the call that all had been approved, and I only needed to do my pre-op testing and get a final all clear from my primary physician. Who by the way was only too happy to give me the go ahead, as he has been trying to get me to consider this for the last 10 years. I too am scheduled for the 23rd. I'd love to keep in touch and perhaps cheer each on or up as the case may be. Are you doing a pre-op diet? If so what are the parameters? Are you maintaining it, or struggling like me? I wish you all the best in the world, and i hope to hear from you.

Take care,

Betts69

Hi Betts69,

Yes. I'm on my preop liquid diet and it is EXTREMELY HARD. It's for 2 weeks.

Breakfast- Protein shake

Snack- sugar free Jello and Water

Lunch- Protein Shake

Snack- sugar free Apple sauce and Water

Dinner- Protein Shake and 1 cup of veggies

Then, another Protein shake

This diet is teaching me DISCIPLINE because I have to cook for my family. Whenever I get hungry, I go find something to do with water handy. I love YouTube so I'll find motivation looking at before and after videos of people who have been through this and I feel so much better about this decision. Anyhoo, I am doing pretty good with it. I also think about how close I am. I only have 2 MORE DAYS. :D

Hi I just have stumbled upon this forum and wanted to chime in and say hello. I was sleeved on Oct.14. No issues, I am not having any problems. I have been getting all of my fluids and Protein. Good luck to those who are about to start their journey.

My surgery is 10/27!!!! I'm soooo excited. The day I was approved was exciting but I did have one day where I had a bit of a freak out. I kind of let myself go to all the bad places. You know the what if's and worse case scenarios but only for one day and then the next day I was back to excited and happy and grateful. I think it's healthy to understand the seriousness of the surgery but also realize that there are sooo many people who go in to surgeries. Also I wouldn't have been approved if I wasn't healthy enough for the surgery. I'm currently on day 9 of my 14 day pre-op diet. It's been a hard 9 days but I've already lost almost 7 lbs! I wish you well! Friend me so we can stay in contact!!!

Hi there! That was such an exciting feeling for me and I am so very thrilled for you.

I received my approval and went under the knife one week and a half later on October the 15th.

Congratulations! You're going to do fantastic!

My surgery is tomorrow and I'm freaking out a little. My family is far away and I haven't told anyone here I'm having surgery so I'm going it alone. I think I'm well prepared, but still very nervous.

Coby..

I understand your feeling completely. I was in the same boat. Of course you're nervous.

Breathe and know that you're going to be in wonderful hands. Let the doctors and nurses take care of you, and cater to your needs and try to remove the worry.

We're all here for you and speaking first hand, you're going to do fantastic and this part will be over in a jiffy.

I was sleeved on the 22nd. I'm only now feeling more human and actually showered! Lots of nausea and hunger!!! I wasn't really prepared for how hungry I would be. I am so glad to hear people doing well with no problems but I am struggling some. How are people getting their Protein (since I know this is what will help the hunger) without Protein shakes. My surgeon doesn't want us using them. Thanks and congrats to all who are doing well.

I have also been struggling to get all my Protein in and have been down right HUNGRY! I was sleeved on the 23rd. It has been a rough road. I gave thought many times about testing my sleeve and trying to eat food. I haven't though and once I started passing gas (TO I I KNOW) and bowels moving. (Again TMI) I started feeling better, also moving more helps. But am still hungry! I am still very swollen as well. I actually weigh more now than the day of surgery. Only 5 lbs more, but still more. Hopefully this part will be over soon and we can move forward to happier, less hungry place. We can do this!!

I have really started learning the real difference between head hunger and real hunger since being sleeved on Wednesday. Many times I thought I was starving, had about 6 spoonfuls of broth, and was STUFFED! It's learning to fight the head hunger now. Please don't risk testing your new stomach too early. Is it really worth ending up back in the hospital for another surgery? I ordered GENEPRO Protein that is supposed to be here tomorrow. It's supposed to be tasteless that you can just add to regular drinks and it's not supposed to be clumpy. I'll let everyone know how it is!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
