Oh no, school was cancelled and there is not a flake of snow on the ground. Northern Virginia goes crazy at the possibility of snow. I am near Leesburg Virginia and the forecast calls for a "dusting to 1 inch" and hello school is cancelled.

Just discovered another milestone. My BMI is 34.9 which means I couldn't qualify for surgery through insurance because I am too thin. With my insurance I would have to be BMI of 35 with co-morbs. I know it's only by 0.1 but when we miss getting in an car accident by 0.1 we Celebrate, right? I'm feeling pretty awesome right now. That's not a feeling that I usually have (I feel awesome about others not me) which makes this all more wonderful. Okay, I'm gonna cry. Heck, I'm crying already.

Great job Beni!!!!! So dang proud of you!!! You made me cry too!! :P

I do a lot of shopping at Maurices. :-) So does my 21 year old daughter, so it's fun to shop together!

I had my 3 month appointment yesterday, I'll be back to report what she told me in a bit. ;)

So I had my 3 month check up yesterday. First thing the nurse says is, "Your pants are too big girl!" I know!! But I'm kind of between sizes and even though I did buy a new, smaller pair of black dress pants---I hate them! Totally wrong fit! So I've been wearing my "big" ones.

Anyway---I have lost a total of 55 pounds. They do this percentage thing, but honestly, it's never made sense to me, LOL! She said something about how I've lost 56% of "something.." If it's percentage of body weight that they figuring, they're figuring it wrong I believe! I'll have to ask next time exactly what they're figuring, LOL.

I still have not seen my actual surgeon since BEFORE my surgery! (when he suggested I think about doing the sleeve instead of the bypass) I thought I'd at least see him the morning of surgery, but nope, never saw him.. He talked to Brett after the surgery, but if he did talk to me, I certainly don't remember it!

And now I see the PA when I go for my visits. But I did see him in the hallway yesterday. He looked at me, took a double look and said, "Hey! How are you doing?" Surprised he even recognized me! :P (not because I've lost, just because I've barely seen him!)

So anyway--my PA said I'm doing great-BUT......feels I'm either somewhat dehydrated or anemic or something! I shouldn't be exhausted walking up the stairs at home. I should be able to be working out more, etc. So she ran labs and urine. I should hear from her today, I hope. ^_^

She still wants me to increase my Water and Protein. I kind of got pissy and said, "Seriously, I cannot fit anymore food in my body during a day!" And when I can't drink half hour before a meal, and an hour after a meal, but eat 4 meals a day....well, geesh! That's hard to fit in more Water yet! She said, "If you were the only one telling me this is hard to do, I'd say it's all your fault, LOL, but you're not. I know it's a struggle, but just be mindful of it every day."

Yep, got it. ;)

I told her I was a bit annoyed that I still have a hiatal hernia. I thought it would have been repaired when he was in there. She said it was repaired, but sometimes still slips again. OIY. She had talked to the surgeon about it and he told her if I continue to have issues with it, then we'll talk about options.

So far, using my oils (topically) has really calmed it down. (meaning, calmed the reflux down) I told her taking omeprozol and Pepcid was not helping one bit and that I'm using my oils. She was confused....thought I was drinking them. I told her no, I apply them topically to where my esophagus is and where the hernia is. I can now wake up and either have NO reflux or just a tiny bit. She said, "Well, if that's working, keep doing it!" :)

I asked what they recommended my weight goal be. They had in my chart 165. So right around 160-165 is where I'll aim for, for now. That's only like 30 pounds away!!! Seems totally un-real!! :o

Now I need to be tightening this body up! I cannot believe how much muscle I've lost.

Let's see, what else did she say. I thought there was something else I was going to tell you all. Hmmm, I can't remember, LOL.

Oh well, If I remember, I'll be back!

BENI: Congratulations! Sounds like you are doing some great things. I'm in California. If you were here, I'd send you to Nordstroms - a step above Macys, a step below Neimans. Real sales women, great bra fitting. I don't think the have it in Virginia. Good luck!

134 this morning, 40 pounds down from surgery date, total of 91 lost with 15 more to go to my goal weight. Though my doctor predicted I would be at 110 by my 6 month appointment.

Remember I am 4'11, so my weight will be less.

I did have pale stool early on right after surgery. This was back in the day of horrible Constipation but I think it was because of the Protein shakes and the very limited food selection. Now I make food concoctions with different vegetables. Like homemade hummus with 4 different tiny bits of cooked vegetable blended in food processor or fruit smoothies with all the right stuff for regularity.

Please let us know what they say. Hope you feel better.

they're going to have me come in for blood test to check my liver function.

So I just read your post that you said about your stool.....Mine is also really light beige!? I just figured it was the change in diet, but maybe not? I wonder if I should mention it to my PA.

Have any of you October gals tried salad yet (lettuce). I have not encountered one problem with anything I've tried but haven't tried lettuce yet because I've seen where people have had problems.

Side note OMG, I'm missing bread! And I miss drinking milk with my "sweets" (protein bar).

I've been eating salads for awhile now. I eat them everyday - I keep them down better than anything else. Doesn't hurt to try bc honestly everyone's experience is so individual.

Oh, I'm going to try salad then. I have not because I was afraid of the dreaded grouchy pouch. I usually do baby spinach and kale in my fruit smoothies (only a tiny bit) but I am willing to try.

My celebratory day was a bust. Kids stayed home as school was cancelled due to snow. Had to cancel the MedSpa but rescheduled. Will report once I find out what miracle cures they have for loose skin. I also made an appointment for another one. Might as well check it out as it comes highly recommended.

We have Nordstrom's in Virginia but I usually only buy shoes and purses from them. Their women's department is not so great (I have bought jackets and an outfit here and there) but I will check out the misses now that I am regular sizes. I need some pants very badly. All my spandex/elastic pants are falling off now too. All day long I have been pulling them up. Perhaps I can shop tomorrow if they don't cancel school again.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
