It's hard to say. I had a text book recovery, no issues and was feeling great after a week. My friend had the surgery and had many issues. She was nauseous and drained for the first couple months. Can you reschedule the trip if you find that you're not up to it? I would hope for the best and plan tha trip. You can order Soup or might even be able to eat regular food by one month out. Of course you won't be able to eat much at a time. I was cleared at 2 weeks for regular food, just had to take it easy and try new things one at a time. Good luck with your surgery and recovery.

I had an easy recovery and flew 7 days after surgery (I traveled out of my area for the surgery) and was fine. For me traveling 30 days after surgery would have been OK, but I don't think I was cleared for heaving lifting at that point, so lugging around bags could be an issue. The actual flying part, no problem. (Even 7 days after surgery, I fit better in the seat!)

At one month I was just starting regular food. If I would have traveled at that time, I would have been more concerned about fatigue. I agree about heavy luggage. Just make sure you have rolling luggage, and your shoulder bag needs to be light.

I agree with all the above. I think it should be doable, but you'll really need to plan ahead for meals. Maybe look at the menu in advance to figure out what you can eat. At one month out I started going out for meals - it was a little challenging to find softer foods, but always worked out. But you'll need to take care of all your other meals as well, which could be hard while out of town. Maybe bring some Quest bars or Protein shakes (and shaker) so you can make sure you've got some options.

It varies, but by a month out I was feeling mostly normal - just a little more tired than usual. So you should be able to do it if it's important, but again plan ahead and try to schedule down time to make sure you get ample time to rest.

My surgeon told me it was ok to travel after three weeks. You don't want to travel before that in case you have complications from surgery

I traveled with my two year old one month after surgery and was fine. If you dont have any unusual complications you should be fine. I would try and bring some things you know you can eat or pick some up at the grocery store when you get there.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
