Hi I'm new and still waiting for a lap band.

My doctor will be Stephen Wilkinson, I've been waiting for three years on the public waiting list and I'm starting to lose hope.

I'm a 26 year old mum of two kids under the age of 5 who is finding it really hard to do active things with them.:tired

3 years ago I was 139kg and now I'm 157kg (about 330lbs) and rising.

Thank You for making me feel welcome :biggrin1:

Hi Natz, welcome  Are you in the UK? I'm asking because I was wondering, if you are in the UK, is lapband covered under National Health? My husband is a british citizen and is having a heck of a time getting insurance to cover him because he's "too heavy" for lapband according to them. I had been giving thought to him going back to London to have it done, but if there's a 3+ year wait, that's no good either.

On another note...if it's not covered by NH, perhaps you could look into Mexico...It's about $10,000 or 5000 pounds. Just some food for thought.

I hope you get in very soon!

I'm in Australia and I'm a single mum of two energetic kids.

the surgeon and I worked out that I'd need at least $12,000 to get the operation done.

I'm looking into more extensive health cover but I'll still have to wait another year at least.

Good Luck with your banding!!!

Hey Natz, hope everything works out for you, i am waiting for my doctor to send in the paperwork to the insurance, can't wait to hear from someone, and get started. I bet it is beautiful in Australia, i would love to visit there sometime.lol Good Luck to you.
