Help! I'm not getting my water or protein

Recommended Posts

Every time I have Protein makes me sick I have tried and everything under the sun. I have been eating fruit baby food and yogurt but I know I'm still not getting enough protein in and I'm starting to worry myself considering you need protein to heal I also know I'm only getting about 20 ounces of Water in a day. My nut and dr said keep trying and my in my vital signs look great but I am 10 days postop and I have no energy at all I can't sleep at night I just feel so drained.

My 1st ten days, I ate virtually nothing. I felt tired and drained for weeks and weeks post-op. And I wasn't able to eat but the smallest bites of food for months. I was eating about 3/4 can of Soup per day. I focused on drinking as much as I could and THEN on getting in Protein. I'm sure I never got in 60 grams of Protein per day for months. It took a long time before I could eat more than a 1/4 cup of food at one sitting.

Hang in there and take it day by day. It will get better. Focus on staying hydrated. I was 150+ lbs over weight, so I knew I had enough "food" stored in my fat to keep me fed for months. B)

Try the Protein Jello recipe. Jello was considered a liquid in both my preop and postop diets. This was a life saver. Also the fact that it was something to chew helped a lot. Still making it 4 months post op. I can't figure out how to get the actual address of the page to show up. The recipe can be found on the website for Unjury.

If you can order GENEPRO from Amazon, instead of a huge scoop of Protein it is just a tablespoon and has 30 grams, only 4 carbs it mixes with anything and I cannot taste it. I mis it in my Protein Shake in the morning along with my scoop of Unjury and skim milk and my morning protein shake is 8 ounces of skim milk, 1 scoop of unjury a scoop of Genepro and a little powdered sugar free pudding and a few ice cubes to get it cold and it is 59 grams of protein. I almost have my protein requirement in by 7 am before I leave for work. It's awesome.

not getting enough Protein

@

are you referring to not be able to drink Protein shakes cuz you get nautious??

many people do have trouble downing them

yeach

protein at this stage is secondary to Water

later Protein and Water will go hand in hand

for now concentrate on drining

water is essential for the rest of your life

64 oz

now you must drink, drink and then drink

drink vvvvvery slowly - sips then stop

keep doing this

now in particular as a newbie, early PO you MUST drink

try and get more water in

try room temperature water

chrytstal light

not drinking enough water you could become dehydrated

have to go to hospital

IV's

spend the night

no fun

sugar free popsicles don't count as liquid

but they will make you feel alittle better

wet your whistle :)

i love the purple

holding a glass of water up to your health :)

did i mention how important it is to drink water?? ;) :D

good luck

kathy

At 2 weeks out, the Beans still may be too thick. Make them mushier or about the consistency of the yogurt, and they may be easier to tolerate. You may be trying to go to thicker solids too quickly. You might find some interesting recipes on one of these sites that will sit well.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
