I had a bit of a chicken strip last night for dinner following mashed potatoes. I felt so sick afterwards. I wasn't throwing up food but bile was definitely coming up. I tried to make myself throw up but no luck! So u stayed gassy and nauseous the rest of the night. Feeling I might have made a mistake doing this! ????

Are you still on pureed foods? Maybe you tried the chicken strip too soon? Hope you feel better!

I was in the same boat too. If I tried something before my stomach was ready I got so sick.

It was probably too early for that but don't give up as you progress. I struggled with many foods and I just wish there was a magic schedule to ensure I was ready.

I was so sick of shakes and nothing sounded or looked good because I knew the first bite might create huge issues.

I'm about 15 weeks out and just recently have noticed that meals have been much more pleasant.

I found new Protein drinks that I like and Protein Bars as well. Funny thing is I never had an issue with the bars. Even early on at 4 weeks. They go down fine.

I can just encourage you to take one bite and chew thoroughly and wait a few minutes to see what your stomach thinks of it. Try to not overeat at this point.

Good luck. It gets better and better.

@@JenVsg2014 I just started puree and one of my favorite things is pintos and cheese with a scoop of ground beef from Taco Bell. I've even added a little light sour cream to it. It's really filling (I can eat about half) and it tastes like paradise.

Maybe you just need a few things to try that change it up. I was having Soup when I was on full liquids and am so freaking sick of it now so I know exactly what you mean.

I understand about food addiction! Have you thought about seeing a therapist? I ask because that really helped me. My first homework assignment was to determine what food does for me. I realized that it comforted me and kept me from feeling my feelings (especially the unpleasant ones). I worked with her for over a year to learn how to feel my feelings and find healthier ways to comfort myself. I would still be seeing her if she hadn't moved. I'm dragging my feet to find someone else, but I need to.

Something that I really enjoyed on purees: cottage cheese, layered with speghetti sauce and then shredded cheese. Heat it up and it's like lasagna. Yummy! Check out www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com - she has a lot of post op ideas (that one is hers). Hang in there:)

I didn't puree per se but I did mince the hell out of some chicken and added various sauces while on the puree stage. just took my time to eat. it was most likely the oil and breading mixture that did not agree with you. next stage is right around the corner.... almost on to regular (healthy) foods!!!

@@JenVsg2014

hey bud

oh no!!!!

don't give up :o

it is very early in the game

in all honesty there are some people that regret WLS in the beginning :(

there are different threads on the board concerning that subject

but normally that feeling starts to change for the good :)

some people take a little longer to heal

you are 3 weeks along

that is still early in the game

at 3 weeks i wouldn't go to any fast food place

your new tummy was probably rebelling that you had a chicken strip

it apparently wasn't ready for that

it was mad at you and caused gas and making you nautious

maybe eat soft foods for awhile longer

talk to your NUT

at the end of the day..........

always listen to comment/instructions from YOUR NUT

we're all here to give you support :)

hope things improve sooner than later :)

feel better :)

you are on the road to a healthier, happier, longer life :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
