@@TeacherMommy I feel mine is "real" hunger too. I can tell the difference between that and gas. And I take Protonix too. You can't have Protein Shakes along with your Jello, broth and Water? I was advised to start those right away, I make them with unsweetened coconut milk. It takes the edge off the hunger and gives you Protein, Vitamins and nutrients! That sounds odd that you can't have them, unless there were complications, you need calories and nutrition to heal!

Also, thank you to everyone who posted on this thread. I had no idea about the clear Isopure. I will for sure get some of that to have on hand. And someone suggested sugar free mints, too. Thanks for that.

You know, there were a few times in

my first couple of weeks when I just had crazy head hunger. I was in bed a lot watching tv and it is constant food ads! I wanted fried chicken so bad it was ridiculous. But it was short-lived and I'm not having those thoughts now a month out. I think your head messes with you (that's a highly technical term) and your body is really changing. I think these thoughts will pass soon for you. As for the feelings if hunger and pain and rumbling, I had some of that. But I knew I could not eat. It got better after about a week. Your stomach does crazy things the first week.

Timetakeitoff and other newbies, you will not get the full sensation on liquids. You will know you consumed too much when you cramp or have diarrhea. The full sensation will come when you get on soft foods.

@@dark n lovely, I haven't had my surgery yet. I have it in two weeks but trying to get prepared. What do you mean by clear Protein shakes? Can you share a few brands?

My surgeon directed me to have only Clear Liquids for 2 - 3 days after surgery. You still need 60 - 80 grams of protein/day. I couldn't get that much in right after surgery. I used Isopure ready-to-drink clear Protein drinks with lots of Protein. I got mine in Vitamin Shoppe. If it tastes too strong, I suggest diluting it and keeping it very cold.

hydrate and it could be possible that you are having some reflux that mimics hunger pains, and of course, years of eating weigh on your brain and your brain is the one that may be hungry. each day gets better. hang in there...

I'm three weeks out and still crave chinese food, pizza and a big fat juicy steak. I have yet to have a Protein shake I enjoy, they all taste horrible to me, and I'm still craving food, real food.

Hello ladies. Believe when i tell u those who are farther in their post op surgery understand how u are feeling. It does get easier. food will smell delicious and temptation will still be there but stay focus on why u decided to have the surgery in the first place. Try sugar free mints and hard candy but remember not to chew...lol You will continue to do just fine. Good luck!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
