I can honestly say that I am looking forward to going back to work. Even though I have 3 jobs faint.gif, I am looking forward to the regularity of life.

Kity you sound like me. I am 31 and work is my life. I am really curious to see how things go when I am off for two weeks. It should be very interesting. As for the surgery, I think I am getting a bit nervous. Starting Monday I go on my two week liquid diet. I keep telling myself it won't be hard and try not to think about it. I am sure I will survive and I think this will be the best thing that could happen to me.

OMG, we started back this week, I call the first week back hell week. I run the transportation dept. for a small school district we transport about 700 students. I am always surprised that 4th and 5th graders have no clue of where they live. And Middle school and High school students well we won't even go there. Another thing that just gets my goat is, people who pop out kids and expect the schools to raise there kids. I had to move a bus stop because the parents are to darn lazy to walk down one block and pick them up. They cried for so long and loud that I was forced too. OH I was so PISSED.

Well any way I am back to to normal, I think ? Is there any normal life for any of us?

Any way hope all have a great weekend.

The teachers come back on Wednesday and they are more difficult to deal with than the students. (Sorry Pamela) Their whine is monumental..."summer's over...boo hoo." Those of us who work 12 months a year at the school are full a big ol' plate of bite me.

Funny, it's always the same few teachers who gripe.

Got my fill yesterday under flouro. I can feel the difference, I haven't tried anything more than mushies, and they do go down...along with drinking plenty, I'm feeling great!

As of right now I'm only 100 pounds overweight!!!!! A new mile stone!!!

Juli, that's great, you must be thrilled!!! was this your first? and what is "flouro"? I can't believe how different this time is :nervous I had my fill on monday and still am having to be VERrrrrry carefull! I am pretty much still on mushies and even that will make my throat clamp up tight. I have mixed emotions about it cuz I'm sure the wt. will start to drop now, but it's crazy how carefull I have to be or I'm in trouble. I got another apt. for september, but at this point can't imagine another fill. Anyway, hope everyone is haveing a great weekend.

Flouro is an X-ray type thing. It's different some way, though I can't tell you how. But they needed to see the port because I had lost so much wieght it had moved far from the scar. Also it was pointing down. It was still attached where he put it, by my anatomy has changed pretty dramatically. I'll need them done under flouro from now on, which is fine with me.

Today I'm trying real food, like an egg over easy and toast and it's not going so well. But I'm sure it will get better with time.

I'd wait and see about the September appointment. It's hard to judge this far away.

;)

Thanks Juli, real food still isn't doing so well for me either, but I'm definately diggin the wt. loss, finally stated down again:whoo:, so I guess I'm not complaining!! The september apt. is the Drs. schedule, not mine, suppose to see the nut. and get a fill if I need it. BUT, coming from the Vineyard and all the expense of the boat, etc., if I don't think I need a fill I'm certainly not going that far just to see the nut.! we'll see.....

Hi all! Just checking in post-weekend. Hope everyone had a good one. We went out with our Rainbow RV group. I got a nasty sunburn cause I WENT WITHOUT A SHIRT! Yes, I did wear sunscreen. I just didn't reapply like I should have. But I WENT WITHOUT A SHIRT!! And wasn't overly self-conscious. That's a big thing for me. Everyone was very supportive of my weight loss so that helped. We were at the beach this trip and we had a sand sculpture contest. Guess whose team won?? :guess

Jo & Juli, I know the feeling of not being able to eat real food easily. Since my last fill it's been tough for me too. In fact, I had a fill scheduled for tomorrow and called rescheduled for three weeks later.

Hiya Peach! Nice to have you aboard!

Stevee, what's the latest? We want an update!

Eddie,

Congrats on the sand castle and non shirt wearing day.

I'm going to a les fest in a few weeks and don't see me losing my shirt.

Not now, not ever.

But then again, you fellas are lucky in the shirtless department. I'll be happy to sight see at the fest. hehehe.

Hey everyone!

Eddie, glad to hear you went shirtless! Juli, sorry to hear you won't be joining him :) And Stevee, congrats on raising that much cash! Hope you guys on the liquids are doing okay. It will go faster than you think!

Things here are okay. Heading to Key West tomorrow for a few days to get out of Miami. I definitely need a vacation!

I've been having some weird feelings of tighness in my stomach -- I had my first fill about a month ago and I have PMS so I think that's increasing my restriction -- I can barely eat anything at all. But it's been going on since Friday (5 days) so I'm waiting to see if it decreases over the next few days. If this is what it feels like to be overfilled, I don't want it! I had actually planned on getting another fill in 2 weeks, but now I don't know if that would be such a good idea...ugh...meawhile, I'm barely losing at all...it sucks.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
