HELP! Sleeved 8/27/14.....scale not moving!

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 8/27/14 and lost 10 pounds the first week. I am three weeks out today but the scale has NOT moved in the past two weeks. I am tracking my food intake with My Fitness Pal and I am getting plenty of Protein.....eating ONLY things on the "approved" diet list (only about 700 calories a day!).....even joined a gym and am working out almost daily (walking a mile on the treadmill and 20 minutes on the elliptical machine). Even people who don't know I had surgery say they notice I am losing weight. I can tell a difference in my face, my stomach, my backside.....my watch is looser, my rings are looser, my shoes are looser, my pants are looser.

How is it POSSIBLE the scale is not moving?????? HELP!!!

My PA told me to forget about the scale right now and focus on how my body is changing. You just had a big shock to your system and your body is trying to hold on to the weight because it thinks you are starving. It will adapt and the scale will start moving. I had surgery 8/26 and the last I checked the scale hadn't moved but I have lost 2 sizes already. So go with it and believe it will work.

Welcome to the 3 week stall.. don't fret it will move, just keep doing all the right things. You may want to take some measurements they are much more accurate than a scale will be. :)

I use the term 'three week stall' because that tends to be when that first stall happens but for some it does so earlier or later.. as long as you follow your program it will drop pretty dramatically when it ends.

You're probably building muscle. Don't focus on the scale but on how your clothes fit and especially how you feel. Sounds like you're doing everything right so hang in there!!!! You will notice the changes soon enough.

I just came off a stall for two weeks it was so frustrating. Best thing I ever did was take measurements. Those told me everything was working fine. Hang in there I know its a mind game. Just know we all go through this. Its normal.... not easy.. but normal.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
